ATI Radeon LE 32MB DDR

128bit, just a tip, in the future do a search for "radeon le".. there were tons of threads on this exact topic. hell, do a search now, there's much more info.

LE is just like rest of Radeon, except the clock is lower, and without Hyper Z enabled, which can be enabled with little work of registry editing.

radeon le crippled but fixable. clockspeed easily bumped to and way over standard radeon using powerstrip. HiperZ for direct3d can be turned on via registry hack.

radeon ve =crippled and stuck that way.

Make sure you don't get confused between the LE and the VE. The VE is a severly crippled card and performs very poorly.

Is the GeForce2 MX 32MB (say asus V7100) still a better performer for about $50 more, or is this one of those splitting hair issues that only on paper you see the difference?

I have Asus's TNT V3400-TV and am happy with the performance, but with my DSL now I think video may now be the bottleneck.

any GeForce 2 MX falls short of this card... correct me if I'm wrong but everyone I've talked to has said that

The Radeon VE is a POS...doesn't even have T&L.

But that's off topic, the Radeon LE is an awesome card. It had 128bit DDR SDRAM, that right there tells you it will blow away a GF2MX at high res. It also has more features than the MX (the LE is a full Radeon core, not stripped down feature wise, it lacks HyperZ and has a slower clcok speed, but all the rendering features are there) not to mention better image quality (in 2D and 3D), and being cheaper to.

Hehehe the GF2MX would be a poor purchase right about now 🙂
