ATI Radeon DDR listed on EBWorld

Hmmn, no almost no information on specifications and performance of the card, I wonder who would pre-order one?

Wow... $350 for a 64Meg DDR card... Right off the bat... Makes me wonder why Nvidia 64Meg cards are ~$400

I think as long as the Game performance is about GTS 2 level them I will switch my DDR to one. I'm not that impressed with the 2D quality of the DDR and DVD on the Nvidia cards don't come close to ATI's. I just hope ATI can provide driver updates like Nvidia do.

I wonder when we're gonna get a review of this thing since it's release is less than a week away? I wonder if Anand has it in the lab already. If the card performs on par with the GTS I'm sure to grab it based on 2D quality alone plus the price isn't that bad at all. Other online vendors are sure to have a lower price.

Guardian...today is the twelf hot shot. 😉 It is almost 3 weeks away. 😛

BTW, I bet that will be pushed back.

I mean, considering we haven't heard any true specs yet, only rumors thusfar, I doubt it will be out on August first.

My suggestion - don't preorder until the final verdict is in, unless you can cancel the order easily! We have no idea if this card will live up to ATI's specs

ATi unlike 3dfx, nVidia, and S3 has never made outrageous spec sheets only to release a sub adverage card, ATi earned my trust in the 80's and has made good quality cards that meet their spec sheets since then. I don't thin they are going to knowingly bruise their 20 year old good image.

That is true, ATI doesnt exaggurate. Its just that by the time they release the damn cards those super kick ass specs arent so super kick ass anymore 😛

I'm not very excited about this card. Its specifications in the previews, that were all over the net when it was announced, are far from spectacular. Add to that ATI's driver history for gaming cards...

How can HDTV support and INCREDIBLE DVD decoding not be spectacular?!?

Although I would never purchase a video-card without seeing some numbers, it seems like a pretty sweet card!

Depends on what you want to do with it though.. <shrug>

If I wanted 2D I would go with Matrox. 😉

I was referring to the expected 3D performance. The previews said 400Mpix/s, 800Mtex/s in dual textured games, 1200Mtex/s in triple textured games. Now, as there are no (or very few) triple textured games out on the market the first 2 values are much more important. 400Mpix/s and 800Mtex/s just aren't spectacular numbers.

If this is the VIVO version, it's an even better deal. Finally, some competition to drive those outrageous prces down.

well, i don't think radeon will beat GTS just by looking at specs...
Geforce ---> 800 mpixel and 1600 mtexel and radeon ---> 400mpixels and 800 mtexel ( 1200 mtexel when tripe ) .......... but i think radeon will use 200 DDR as it promised........ any opinions ?

I think there was an article a few days ago with some unofficial specs of the Radeon, saying its clocked at 300MHz, which will put the fillrates at 600Mpixels/s, 1200Mtexels/s(dual textured) and 1800Mtexels/s(triple textured). Nothing official yet though.

300 Mhz ? sheet.............i thought it was 200 MHz since i read a preview of Radeon256 the day it was released....... any other ppl got any infos on yet ?
