I went to best buy today and I notice that on the ATI Radeon 9800 Pro there is a rebate for $50.00 which makes it come to a total of 179.99 + Tax. I was planning on buying a ATI Radeon 9600XT for 199.99 so would the 9800 Pro be a better deal. The only problem is the rebate is only available until 7-24-04 and I wasn't planning on getting it just yet.

Assuming the 9800 Pro is a better card than the 9600XT I thought it was a good deal, or am I not factoring in something?

get it, the 10% coupon makes it really hot

i was planning on getting it myself but i think the rebate is a best buy rebate which is negated by my employee discount

9800 pro - 256-bit 8 pipes 380/680 (R350 Core)
9600 xt - 128-bit 4 pipes 500/600 (RV360 Core)

9600 xt should be priced somewhere around 130-150 depending on who's made it and who's selling it
9800 pro should be around 200 or so with some good and bad deals out there.
(given these are the 128mb versions)

9800 pro is a much much better buy then the 9600 xt! The 9800's double memory bus, double pipelines, and faster core overwhelm the faster gpu clock speed of the 9600 xt. Lemme guess the 9600 xt was 256mb right? not worth it. Go for the 9800 pro while you have a chance, it's an incredible deal.
