hi guys,
ok....I bought the new PSU. Its Antec Smartpower v2 450W with dual 12v rails (15A and 17A). I must say - Now I realize how a branded PSU looks like. Everything... from the PSU Box to the quality of the cables etc, its awesome. Also it came with a 3 yr warranty.
Since the time I have bought it, I am doing a lot of stress testing with it. I tried playing HL2, Doom3, Splinter Cell Chaos Theory, Far Cry... each for atleast 1 hour with all settings maxed out. And so far everything is going on quite smoothly. No crash, hang or blow offs !!!
I think you guys were absolutely right.... the problem wasnt with the GPU, it was with my unbranded cheap local PSUs. The problem is... in India there are very few people who use real good video cards, at the most these people use a FX 5200. And because of that even the local hardware vendors are no not aware of the power requirments of GPUs like ATI Radeon 9800 Pro.
There is just one silly problem that I am facing. During the time when I didnt have my new PSU, I was working with my onboard graphics. So when I got my new PSU, I connected my GPU (ATI Radeon 9800 Pro), uninstalled the intel graphics drivers, rebooted and then installed the new v5.10 ATI Radeon drivers. But since then, whenever I right click anywhere on the desktop, the right click menu seems to be opening very slowly. I know its a small problem.. but its a bit frustrating. Please let me know why this might be happening or whether I should post a new forum in some other category specifically for this problem
Thanks to all you guys .... As of now the PSU Blow Off problem seems to be solved and I'll let you know if I happen to have any kind of related problem. Thank you all once again for your time and patience !!!! Its appreciated
