Going to get a new video card soon because I'm planning to buy a new LCD Moniter and my current video card doesn't have DVI, I can't afford the Radeon 9700 Pro. Should I go for a Built By ATi Radeon 9500 or go for a Leadtek GeForce 4 Ti4200 128mb? Which one would you reccomend?

I would say go with Radeon 9500. Who knows, you might sucess with the mod and then you get a Radeon 9700 for ~$160. =)

Even it doesn't success, I still would go for the 9500.

<-- I love my card.

EDIT: Well, I guess I really didn't say much about the cards.

R9500: Slightly slower than Ti4200 but very crisp 3D, 2D, tv-out. Performs better in High Quality 3D. $Chance of making ~$160 card to ~$300
Ti4200: Slightly faster in 3D but ok imaging and doesn't perform well in High Quality. (FSAA,high resolution etc)

I agree, although with a LCD i'm guessing the highest resolution your going to be playing at is 1024x768 so even the Ti4200 should be able to do 4x. But I would still go for the 9500.

if you decide on a ti4200 get the albatron (ti4280). it overclocks better and has 8x AGP(like that matters).

do the 9700 mod on the 9500 or spend the extra 30 bux or so and buy the 9500 pro, which is better than the g4ti4600 w/ AA & AF on

i am also debating whether to get a 9500 or a ti4200. so many options....man i am so confused. i just want a good card that will handle battlefield 1942 and medal of honor better than my current geforce 2 mx

I'd recommend a 9500 Pro for guaranteed speed (that's what I'd probably get). Otherwise, get the regular 9500.

Softmodding the 9500np... IF it works you have a 9700 in your hands and it can be clokked to near/beyond PRO speed. I found the proposition WAY too tempting and I pulled of a success. THX GOD AND THX ATI!
