Just got the card today. I got a retail version Visiontek

edit: It has 4 memory modules per side.

Do you have any links that would back this up (that 2 modules per side= 64 bit)? Thanks.

Try here: http://secure.newegg.com/app/CustratingReview.asp?item=14-102-244

By the way, you might want to use rage3d tweak to see how much you can overclock. I got to 275/275. But 280/280 gives me graphic artifacts. But I have a big sound card at PCI slot 1, so there is virtually no air circulation to cool the GPU. Unfortunately, I can't move the sound card to any other PCI slots without causing sound imcompatibiity issues.

Also, do you use the ATI driver version 3.6? (version 3.5 would not allow 9100 to use openGL games). I am a little confused that it seems ATI no longer distringuish cards that are build by ATI vs. powered by ATI (as far as driver is concerned).

good luck,

Quote "First the bad news, it is NOT build by ATI. It is build by VisionTek."
This is actually good news. CompUSA was selling these a few months ago for $99,
with a $20 rebate. There's no video out , and the card has a green board.
If I remember correctly this card was reviewed as better than the Saphire one.

"Is N/A a reliable reviewer? "

Don't know. It could be an urban legend, or it could be real.

"I never knew that Cat 3.5s would not allow any OpenGL games to be played on a 9100. I visit Rage3dforums pretty often and have never noticed this (usually in general radeon discussion) "

http://www.ati.com/support/infobase/4232.html
Interestingly, I was always told that 9100 is identical to that of 8500LE. But from the above web site, Catalyst 3.5 only affects 9100 and not 8500LE.

"Would this card give me much of a boost over a GF3Ti200? "

Doubt it. From Tom's Hardware, a 8500LE has 3dMark of 9627 while a ti200 has 8440.

Anyone have any info on any company officially announcing a 64bit version of the 9100? I looked at some older radeon reviews. Over here: http://www.guru3d.com/review/ati/radeon8500/ They have a 64MB version with 8 chips total. Over here: http://www.sharkyextreme.com/hardware/videocards/article.php/3211_1013941__3 They show a 128MB version with 8 chips total (only can see one side so I assume there are 4 more on the other side). Gonna look into this some more.

xwinger, thanks for the opengl info about the 9100. Learn something new every day.

OK. It does seem like some cards do have a 64-bit memory interface. Checking Rage3d forums, some have posted that Sapphire makes one (apparently only 64MB versions could have the 64-bit interface). Use rivatuner to check it out.

If it is a retail 8500, yes (it runs at 275/275). If you are talking about a 8500LE, it depends. LEs come in several different speeds. Some of them are not a good as the 9000 or 9100 I think.

I got 2 of these cards last week.

One was for my brother and I installed it in his computer. Well he got bored and went to changing the hydra
settings and now the display is all garbled when you try to play unreal or CS.

So I reinstalled XP and the Vid card and still the same problem.

The one I have in my box is running fine although I only get 60fps on CS.

So I take his card and put it in my comp. Still the same problem. Is the card
defective? I really don't want to ship it back but I don't know a whole lot
about radeon cards.

Typical TD rebate. Never, ever buy from them if there is a rebate that makes the product attractive. All things being equal, never buy from them.
Sent the UPC from the box. I figure they got my $20 and stamp.
I've purchased A $2,000 corporate color laser, a $600 smaller laser, numerous other products and supplies. I purchase tech for the company I work for. They have lost all my business. Leave it to TD to lie, cheat and steal.

Doesnt CS have a fps limiter?
