ok. i just bought an ati radeon 8500 le. i was upset to find it only has a VGA output.

question, b/c there is a dual ramdac chipset, is there a way to upgrade the chip tp allow another monitor connected?
like a daughterboard or something?

thanks

I got the same card.
Why dont you try to use the DVI out put? Just buy a adapter DVI-VGA from ATI, I think it supports dual monitor.
Just make sure to install the hydravision drivers.

HHhhhmmmm I thought ur card had the VGA, S-VHS and the DVI out puts.
But guess not... I thought all ATI Radeon 8500 series had all these outputs.
Is ur card BUILT BY ATI or POWERED BY ATI?
If it has only the VGA output I guess you gonna hv to put a PCI video card to use DUALIE.

You can get a dongle to convert DVI to analog. The retail Radeon8500 comes with such a dongle.

To answer your question:

No, you cannot buy a daughter-board for the single output model Radeon 8500s.

I think your only solution for dual monitor support is to install a PCI video card (while keeping the Radeon), or remove the Radeon, and find one with dual outputs (both VGA, and DVI-out).

Once again, the importance of properly researching a purchase.

Some 8500les have dual monitor capability and some, like yours, don't. Note also that some that have a DVI output
either don't come with a DVI-to-VGA adapter or, worse, can't use one.

RMA it and get one that meets your needs from a retailer that knows the different flavours.
