Very interesting that the SDR model gives about the same level of perfomance as the GF2 MX. I would have expected that given both boards have the same amount of SDR RAM but the Radeon has Hyper-Z, the Radeon would do much better and would be a lot closer to its bigger brothers.

The Radeon does seem to do better than the MX in the 32 bit Evolva tests.

Some image quality issues were noted with Evolva and Mercedes Benz Truck Racing. Overall it looks like both boards are winners.

I was a little concerned with that truc racing demo picture he showed though, it is making me seriously reconsider my purchasing a 32b ddr model if I will have to deal with issues such as those. I am hoping that the drivers have improved much over what he tested or the DDR model does not suffer from that problem.

I just want a low price card that plays 1024x 768 @ 32 and 16 good :)

I should go read the article, but what "problems" are the Radeons having?
I'm still deciding whether or not to cancel my Gf2 MX order and get a Radeon DDR... I know it costs more but should be faster and better quality. On the other hand, I can't have any "performance issues" where the card behaves erratically or not at all. (If I wanted that kind of weird performance, I'd get a cheapo ViperII.) :)

man bluemax, you STILL haven't bought a card?! =) Did you sell the 3500 yet?

Bozack, hopefully new drivers are coming out soon, and *may* resolve that issue, though I played UT and Diablo 2 and didn't notice any weird artifacts (both were D3D).

My 3500 sold last weekend, and I've been on my crappy 4MB Cirrus Logic "crutch" since then. It's just plain awful. :(

Unless I can find something that balances out price/performance, and soon, my best option is the Gladiac MX I've already got ordered. (I have to wait 3 weeks for it, but it's a good price- $100US best I've seen in Canada.)
I'm very concerned the 2D Quality will be as fuzzy as everyone says, and quality is very important to me... So is price. That's why a Radeon SDR would have been so ideal if it were the price everyone talked about! (~$100US) I could handle a bit more, but noone's selling them anyway. [sigh] I'll just be going around in circles until someone offers me a deal I can't say no to! :p
