you dont know that. i heard it had an on die cheese slicer so brewing coffee cant be THAT far off.

It will extent your e thingo as long as you have the {$_$}

I know for a fact it will be faster than R520 😉 .

seriously this is all I've heard about R580:

The R580 is expected to be a refresh version of R520 with an increased number of pixel and vertex shaders (currently considered to be 24 pixel pipelines and possibly 8 or 10 vertex shaders).

What i am thinking is, (could be wrong though) is a 48 ALU card.

Its based on 90nm, improved memory controller, 16 pipes that can to 3ROPs per pipe, (16x3=48), 10 VS. It will be a 16-1-3-1 design based on the R530 seriesor known as the X1600 series. Clocked around 700mhz? or around 600.

From Anandtech's article awhile back (with a wink to ATI wishing no perfomrance disclosure) the R580 is most definitely faster than the current stuff out there (including 7800GTX 512 and 700core X1800XT)

No, but I heard it will walk you dog. 😛

Anyways, the rumor is it will have 3x as many pixel shaders as the x1800's, so I expect some major leaps in performance in modern games.

I heard it will also make anti nvida slides 3x faster from its new PR unit that is built in.

Mine was a joke too Cooler 😉 . Besides, I don't care if you prefer one to the other, and I think it's silly that people feel they have to 'pick a side' ... Just use what you use and be happy about it 🙂 . I didn't feel like a goof for using X8xx series hardware despite the GF6 having a "superior" featureset, and I don't feel like a genius for using GF6 and 7 series cards these days.
