I've heard that the official drivers require the dotnet framework or something to install...but that you can work around that? Can anyone explain that to me? And I think I'm going to need atitool to control the fan speed correct? I'm not really planning on overclocking at this current time, but probably will in the future.

That dotnet program is somthing CCC uses but you are going to need it eventually for some program.

I am not too sure about Ati Tray Tools being able to suport a X850XT, i could be wrong but for me my X1800XL did not work with it( i mean Ati Tray Tools didn't suport my card yet).

But iam using Ati Tool 0.25 Beta 14 and it works okay, I don't want to oc as yet(with Ati Tool) cause it still is beta and i don't want to take a chance and blow my card.

ATi Tray Tools > ATi Tool.

dguy do you mean that PingSpike should install ATi Tray Tools & ATi Tool ?

Why, not to sound mean or anything but is there some gain from having both ATi Tray Tools & ATi Tool running at the same time?

I think he means ati tray tools is better then ati tool. I was not aware there were two seperate entities.

I prefer "lite" style of drivers on my system usually. What are the omega drivers? Can I just install drivers without all the .net framework business and the CCC? (What would I be missing without the CCC?)

I have used CCC, Ati Tray Tools and Ati Tool.

Out of the 3 the best one i felt was Ati Tool, CCC is just tool slow and big, Ati Tray Tools doesn't suport my video card yet so i maybe it is not right to compare it to the others but Ati Tools it just WOW.

Everything and anything I want to do is there, i just can't wait for Ati Tool 0.25 i have the Beta ver now.

So I should just install the latest catalyst display driver from ati's site and ati tray tool or ati tool and I should be fine? Am I understanding this correctly that ati tray tools, ati tool and CCC all do basically the same sort of thing?

There's some settings that appear in the CCC than do not appear on the other tools like ATi Tray Tool and ATi Tool, High Quality AF, 3:2 pulldown, Adaptive Anti Aliasing, don't know why, I reinstalled them many times on my X800XT PE and still not appear, that's why I prefer to use the slow CCC for now til that get fixed.
