how is ATI king?

a. yes we know
b. not true in the extremetech review

the only bench that the XT lost is doom 3 (all other benchies, they win in most of resolutions tested)

check out overall performance chart

Single X1800 XT Vs. X850 XT Vs 7800 GTX
1280x1024 31% faster 3% faster
1280x1024 4x8x 53% faster 15% faster
1600x1200 39% faster 3% faster
1600x1200 4x8x 56% faster 16% faster

c. personally, when i look at "KING", i consider fastest card on the market and according to the link OP posted, that x1800xt is the fastest

d. yes you can, in fact i did. and as soon as the 1800xt hits shelves, it will likely replace my GTX

why change it when at most you are going to get a 16% increase? you will not even notice 16%, if it was 50% then that would be a different story.

well, generally speaking, i like to have the best of the best when it comes to video

Then SLI GTX is what you are looking for.

if i only had the time and patience to switch to an SLi board

then generally speaking... your not going to have the best of the best when it comes to video... dont expect to have the best if your not willing to spend a couple hours switching a motherboard

Dude, you know SLI is where it's at. Why didn't you get an SLI board from the get go? You want the best of the best, right?

funds did not permit at the time

Personally, I have tried SLI, and I didn't really like it.
It does significantly increase the maximum fps of a game, and therefore gives great benchmark, but the minimum fps of game still remains.

Actually, I should put it this way:
The smooth part of the game get smoother but un-noticalbe. (e.g 60fps vs. 100fps)
The laggy part of the game get a little smoother but still noticeably slower. (e.g 25fps vs. 30fps)

and there are similar too much bugs to really say that SLI improve gaming experiecne that much.

ATI is KING, ITS the 'PAPER Launch King and Vapor Launch KING'. Take your pick. I am not biased in any way. I am just telling the TRUTH. Its sad that they still do this crap and the fanboys could care less if they can buy one or not as long as there is a piece of paper that says they have a faster card. That my opinion anyways 🙂

It looks like ati is no king after all http://www.hardwareanalysis.com/content/article/1813/

Umm, why is an X850 XT PE better than an X1800 Pro (in the benchmarks that really count, half-life 2😛...)?
I think I see a flaw... I can't quite put my finger on it... but something is wrong.

*agrees 7800 is currently much better*
*continues to pray that ATi will pull some kind of rabbit, which is able to do thermonuclear physics faster than any supercomputer in the world, out of a hat*

Repeating the fourth times. Those benches aren't real.

Then obviously you don't want the best of the best... you want best of simplest easiest to use vid cards.... but than that wouldn't be the best of the best.

SLI hands down is "UNDENIABLY THE BEST"

Apparently since you now have unlimited funds since your upgrade cycle sounds like it will be every 3 months... why not pay someone to upgrade your mobo and system to SLI for you. No patience required.... a pro could have it ready for you in a few hours.

The X1800XT is not "on the market."

it's only just as fast as a GeForce 7800 GT at high resolutions with AA and AF enabled. Turn AA and AF off, and the Nvidia card is a little bit faster. We wouldn't make a big deal about it, except that the suggested retail price is $449, while GeForce 7800 GT cards are widely available for $50 to $80 less. Not only that, but many vendors ship seriously overclocked 7800 GT cards with only a minimal price markup. For the Radeon X1800 XL to have earned a preferred status, it would need to be at least $50 to $100 cheaper, or maybe have standard clock speeds bumped up to 550/550 MHz from the default 500/500.

that what it says on the last page and paragraph of the bench

I'd probably consider myself an ATI fan more so than an NVidia fan - but those are 4 excellent points

two slots + loud fan = meh
ati's really gonna have to do better on price, once it actually hits the streets😉
