ATI HD3850, or HD3870???

Okay, I've been torn between these two cards a while, so to speak.

Anyway, the HD3850 is probably enough fast for my needs, but I'd like to get a very decent upgrade over my current Radeon X1650 Pro. The HD3870, on the other hand, has higher clocks, better cooler and stuff like that, but it costs somewhat more and the waiting-list here in Finland for it is annoyingly long. Could it be possible to achieve 3870 speeds on the HD3850, or does it require vmodding and a aftermarket cooler to do so, or is it possible even then? Opinions, please... :D

Sadly they don't sell any ''exotic'' brands here in Finland... shitty country. :p

I beg to differ. Finland is a wonderful country that stood up as a bulwark against Soviet aggression during the cold war. I'd be glad to help you get the card you want from my home here in Canada!:)

I agree with SF, we had an exchange student from Finland stay with us for a while and Finland looks wonderful, especially how both your education and health care are available to everyone. I better stop myself as this is off topic as it is... :)

You can't really go wrong with either of these cards, but if I had X1600Pro I'd upgrade to the 3870.

^ Well ok-ok, was just kidding with that statement. Self-irony, anyone? :D

Anyhoo, they managed to send me my HD3850 already, although tried to cancel it... case closed then, I guess.

The Radeon 3850 will be a massive boost over that X1650Pro anyway, so I'm sure you'll be happy.

As stated previously anything will be an improvement. I think the extra 30 bucks for the 512 Gecube would be worth it in the future.
