OMFG! ATI just released new Win98/Win2K/WinXP drivers for the old Rage Pro!! These support directx 8.1, OpenGL and the TV tuner of my old ATI AIW Pro (8 meg Rage Pro card).

That means I can finally use the TV-tuner/Video-IN/Video-OUT abilities of my ATI AIW Pro in WinXP! (this ability was always in the Win98/Win2K drivers but not the WinXP drivers)

How many other companies do this?!?!

How many companies provide fully functional WinXP drivers for older hardware? I have a lot of hardware that I can't use because other companies aren't as good as ATI! (Diamond MX300, Savage3d, Savage4, Creative Labs Inlay DVD decoder, Banshee, Voodoo 3500, Voodoo 5500, Best Data and Viking USB modems etc)

Thank you, ATI!!! Because of this, you just guaranteed that I will now buy a Radeon 8500 in the very near future! :D

Question is what company doesn't? It just takes ATI that much longer... How long has XP been out?

Even for the Riva128? That's about the time frame for the Rage Pro.

And ATI has to support the additional functionalities of the AIW Pro (TV-Tuner, VIVO) that makes it harder to support than a card without those capabilities...

lol. Actually, I think it would be cool if it could be used in Win2k/WinXP just to see how it runs...

Seriously, does Matrox fully support their older Marvel styled cards that used the G200?

I am sorry, but NVIDIA has the best driver support of any company that I have seen. I am not a huge fan of theirs, but they do have constant updates for their products.

I think a lot of people here would agree that Creative Labs and Diamond are two of the WORST companies when it comes to support/driver updates. ATI is good, but I think NVIDIA is better.

I hate ati. I just got my new radeon 8500 and I am thoroughly dissappointed. My friends swayed me away from the Gef3TI450 (gainward golden sample) and I bought this radeon. It has been nothing but a pain in the ass. I dont know if it has compatibility problems or what. It looks like ass in my games, for some reason my gef2mx400 performed better than this. Shouldnt I be able to crank all my setting way the fuuck up in tribes2? I know my brothers new gef3ti450 handles it just fine. This sucks. I am thoroughly pissed at ATi. They owe me a new Gef3ti450 :|

Yes, I also find that companies still in business tend to outperform companies that are no longer in business when it comes to driver support.

I am very disappointed with 3dfx in their lack of support for Windows XP. I refuse to buy any future product from 3dfx or Diamond, and I'm going to tell all my friends to do the same. That's just no way to do business, even if you're bankrupt.

As a penguin I must note that ATI has no decent drivers for Xfree86. Nvidia has drivers that are as fast as the windows conterparts.

I think something froze in hell. :) But wow, that's something I thought I'd never see. I still have a few Rage Pro boards around here and it's good to know XP won't be the problem if I ever decide to go there. Thanks ATI and thanks StormRider for mentioning it!

This title is a laugh. ATI has the WORST reputation in the driver department. I've owned both GeForce cards and a Radeon 8500. I'll NEVER go back to ATI.

Several. Now which companies provide functional drivers for CURRENT products? Certainly not ATI :|

maybe now ATI can work on getting my pretty new ATI 64DDR Vivo working great in XP.

Since it doesn't seem to agree well with playing games like Counterstrike ETC...

The tech support tells you just to run it in a low resolution and blah blah blah.... that is BS I bought an expensive graphics card to play my games with maxed out graphics. I guess I should have bought an 8meg Rage pro Card it probably runs better!!!!

I'm glad Czar pointed that link to the Matrox drivers out. I was about to say that Matrox DOES support the old MGA 200s in 2000 and XP. I know because I've got one running as a secondary display card right now. I love that old card. A local shop here in town sells used ones for $3 a pop. I'm thinking about buying 5 or 6 of them to have as spares for cheap little systems or secondary display cards.

I personally have never run into any major problems with my Radeon drivers at home. I personally think once you get something working smooth for your individual system, why bother constantly updating drivers just to gain a few fps in performance. I know some of the driver updates do boost performance considerably, but it seems that a lot of the people encountering problems with their drivers (regardless of chipset/manufacturer) are the ones who are constantly changing their drivers every 2 weeks. I guess I'm just not as concerned with all that stuff as I used to be.
