Ati Gurus! Sapphire Radeon BIOS Flashing - Advice Needed :-)

Ok I have a problem with my Radeon 8500LE and my K7S5A motherboard.

The Radeon works fine in my other systems - therefore the card is not simply to blame.

GF2 Pro and GTS-V cards work fine in the ECS mobo - therefore the mobo is not simply to blame

A Radeon 9000 Pro installed flawlessly in my ECS mobo - so the confusion continues...

Now let me give some extra info...my Radeon is an 8500LE 64MB - according to the sales receipt and the sticker on the card. DXDIAG, System Information and Sisoft Sandra report the card as a 8500 128MB....hmmm.

So.... I'm think that perhaps if I re-flash the card - it might work with my ECS mobo - perhaps I could use an earlier BIOS or even do the 8500 to 9100 conversion?

What do you guys/girls think?

And do you have any links to Radeon flashing guides? Google seems to turn up numerous badly translated European language guides...😉

Thanks in advance.

I shouls also mention that the card installs fine in the ECS mobo, but when I excecute an openGL game I get 3/4 of the upper screen covered in lines and artifacts. This does not happen when the card is in my other motherboards.... 🙁

Have you installed all of the latest SIS motherboard and AGP drivers? Maybe you could flash the motherboad BIOS as well...

I agree, and do your other systems report the 8500 as 128mb? If they don't then the conflict is probably never going to clear itself up with a video card bios change. Maybe play with AGP aperture size in bios set-up.

Was this an open box or refurb? Did the other box (that it worked in) report it as 128MB also? I wonder if someone got ahold of this card before you and put the wrong bios on it?? The boys at Rage3D would probably be able to give you more specific information about this than here.

Well the thing is this card works perfectly in other systems - it is only in the ECS board that I have a problem.

Other graphics cards work fine in the ECS mobo too.

The card is a "bulk" Radeon - looked brand new and untouched from what I could tell.

I've done everything - SiS drivers, mobo BIOS flashes etc etc.

Last night I simply reverted to my GF2 card and everything works as normal. 🙁
