ATI Eye Infinity Setup

I have a 5870 and would like to hook up 3 monitors to my card. I currently have 2 2159 HP LCDs and would like to add a 32inch Plasma or LCD TV to my computer.

What I want to know is with Eye Infinity can I have all three running and each monitor have its own space? Meaning e.g. extended view? I think its called now where I have my 2 LCDs running and if I run a game its on one LCD the other stays in Windows. I want to have the 32" TV for my gaming screen and the other two LCDs stay in windows desktop....

dont know many who run games within a windows on the LCD, i would think the surround would be off putting, however i think EI needs to have like LCD resolutions!

Yep, this is do-able, provided you have the correct ports on the monitors/TV.

For example, when I had 3 monitors, I would play WoW on my main 24", then I had 2 22" monitors (1 on either side) that had things like websites and AIM/Vent/whatever up. Worked great.

Well, this wouldn't actually be an eyefinity setup. This would just be 3 monitors independent. What the OP is asking for isn't eyefinity. In fact, I did this before the 5000 series graphics cards with an 8800gts plugged into 2 monitors and a PCI 5200 plugged into the 3rd. Doesn't need like resolutions.

If the OP wanted the game to be spanned across ALL of the monitors, THATS what makes eyefinity special nowadays. OP wants it just on the one.

Sorry all, but I wasn't clear enough, I don't want to use eye infinity I guess but Chapbass is correct in what I am looking for. I want to run 3 LCDs independently on the same Gfx card. As he stated he was doing what I am looking to do!

The 3rd monitor still has to be on a DisplayPort connection so you either need to use a $100 Active DisplayPort -> DVI adapter, a $20 DisplayPort -> VGA adapter, or buy a 2nd video card/use onboard video output if available. The passive $20 DisplayPort -> DVI adapter will not work.

Do we know of any 32-37" TV's that have displayport natively on them? Thats kinda what I was thinking, but I have no idea, probably not.

Could always just do what I did and get a cheapo video card like a PCI x300 or 6200 or something and then youd have up to 4 monitors.

I have a Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R

SO what if I run 2x 5870 cards can I do this same setup by using the HDMI ports or DVI ports on the second card then?

You don't need another HD5870, you could get something like an HD5450 and hook it up to one of the non-gaming screens. A whole lot cheaper than either getting a second HD5870 or even getting an active DP adapter.

To use one card you want a displayport monitor. You can use an adapter but depending on the resolution it may not work - actually from my experience and reading the active adapters only work about half the time and are all manufactured by one company then rebranded.
