ATi ehome wonder tv tuner card

I'm looking to buy this card from someone on the forums, but I could only find Windows XP MCE drivers on the ATI website. Would this card work correctly with Windows XP Pro? If so, are there any special things I would have to do to make the card work correctly?

Don't think you'll have much luck running the eHome Wonder on WinXP. Instead, I'd suggest the ATI TV Wonder Pro, for running on WinXP. The newer ATI 550 chip based tuner cards are not currently (and probably never will be) supported by ATI's relatively good "MMC" software. So, the 550 tuner cards are ALSO best used only with XP-MCE. They will work on WinXP, but the included "Power Cinema" software is poor.

eHome Wonder will work fine in XP, you just need software that provides support for it. I liked SageTV about the best for XP, it has a great EPG and supports multiple tuners, it didn't support the FM tuner however when I tried it and it does cost money. There are other PVR projects that support it as well if you want to try that route. It uses the same conexant MPEG encoder as Hauppage PVR, but isn't supported in as much software. The PQ is excellent.

They do work well in MCE, and its my preference for PVR Front end, and MCE supports the FM tuner as well.

How about snapstream?

I've used snapstream's BeyondTV for around 2 years now and I love it. They have a one month trial of BeyondTV so your best bet is to try it out for a month and see what you think. I originally got hooked on Beyond TV because sage didn't support my ATI All in Wonder card. Snapstream supports up to two tuners free. If you want to add any more than two you have to pay $20 per tuner. They also have a program Beyond TV Link that allows you to watch your recorded shows on another PC in your house. This is another $39.99. I have a looked at Sage TV but I haven't seen any compelling reason to switch.

I'm running a Hauppauge PVR-150 and PVR-250 in my system. The 150 can be had for around $70 when it's on sale. Just make sure whatever capture card you go with it has hardware encoding.
