ATI Drivers

I just bought a 9500 Pro and I am wondering which drivers are best.
Ati has the CATALYST RADEON 3.2 (7.84) on their site... are these the best for
my card. Are these the standard drivers for all types of Radeon cards?

Which games do you play?

If you are big in to CounterStrike(or any of the HL games), you want to stay away from the Cat 3.2s. If you are into Freespace at the moment, then the Cat 3.2s are the only ones that work flawlessly. Some older games don't seem to work properly with either the Cat 3.2s or the Cat 3.1s(NOLF, KPC, Sac). Depends on what games you are playing what drivers you want to use.

I just built the machine so i have yet to test games.. but probably unreal 2k2, C&C, half Life, Vice City, Splinter Cell... games like that

Looking at your list, Cat 3.1s. Cat 3.2s have hard lock issues, and unless it is fixed, Cat 3.4s will have serious image corruption looking at the games you have on your list(not on all of them). GTA3 didn't run the greatest on the Cat 3.1s, but I'm not sure if Vice City suffers the same fate or not.

For what it's worth, I'm running Catalyst 3.2 on my Radeon 8500 card and Unreal, Generals, and Counter-Strike all run fine. I haven't tried the other games on your list, though.

I play a lot of Counter Strike on my 9500 PRO and have tried using Cat3.2 and 3.1 but went back to my original driver 2.4. I'm thinking of trying 3.1 again because I feel I didn't give it much chance to run on my computer(30 minutes). I might need to change some configurations in the ATI Control Panel to make it work fine with CS.

If u don't want to go with the catalyst. Try Omega Drivers, they have excellent IQ, stability, and speed. The Cat 3.4 SHOULD be out some time this week we will see though.
