ATi Driver Question

So i just upgrade my comp from a FX5500 to a 9800Pro AIW. Love it. Great Upgrade.

I installed the ATi drivers after uninstalling the nVidia drivers and running Driver Cleaner. Everything is good.

But why are there three instances of 'CLI.exe' running in task manager and taking up around 80 megs of RAM? I did a quick google search and these are all related to ATi drivers. Just curious if that is normal or not?

TIA

Let me guess - you installed the whole package with the Catalyst Control Center? In your case, I'd just download an older driver like the 5.11's from the Ati site. Those still have the traditional control pannel, without the resource hogging CCC. For an older card like the 9800 series there's probably no gains from using the latest drivers, espacially since they've had 3 years to work out all the bugs and tweaks by now.

Another option is to install just the bare latest driver, without .NET or CCC, and use a program like Ati Tray Tools to control all the advanced settings.

I've got 3 as well. When not gaming its 13MB, 7 MB and 7 MB, when gaming its more like 43MB, 45 MB, and 20 MB. Not sure why its need so much memory but I suppose since I have 2GB it really doesn't matter how much it uses.
