I just installed a 9800NP in my system. WHOAH, what a difference fron the NF2MX that I was running. And I thought that that was a great improvement from the Voodoo 3K I was running.

I installed the drivers on the disk - 3.6 Cats. When I go to install the 3.7s or 3.8s do I install over, or uninstall the previous version of the cat drivers - how about the Control Panel?, the Hydravision?

I know that its probably been asked 4.5 million times, but sometimes too little sleep fogs one's memory and common sense.

1. Uninstall driver, etc. via Add/Remove Programs.
2. Reboot.
3. Run Driver Cleaner.
4. Install new driver, etc.
5. Reboot.

I only have ATi Control Panel and ATI driver installed but what I do is remove ATi Control panel first via Windows Control panel (add/remove programs icon) then don`t reboot when it asks you, instead remove ATi drivers (from same place via add/remove icon) then reboot,at this stage you`ve two options you can reboot back to desktop and install the complete ATI package that will install control panel and drivers or when you go to reboot after removing drivers is go into safe mode and run Driver Cleaner.

Driver Cleaner link with instructions. .

Taken from ATI homepage on Hydravision,

To un-install HydraVision? use the Windows "Add/Remove Programs" option as follows:
Go to the Windows "Control Panel".
Launch "Add/Remove Programs".
From the list of installed applications select "HydraVision".
Click on the "Change/Remove" button.
When the InstallShield Wizard appears, select the "Remove" option.
Click "Next" through to completion and restart the system.
I would remove hydravison first.

ATI has a new application called cat-uninstaller on their website that removes all ATI files including the ones in the registry that the windows add/remove program misses.

Use cat-unistaller
reboot into safemode (F8)
use Driver Cleaner 2.0 reboot
install new drivers

Yep with the CATs 3.8 drivers ATi have put a software uninstall utility in the "add or remove programs" icon in Windows Control Panel to make things easier,3.8 drivers are the first set to have this feature.

OK, so I dumped the 3.6 drivers and applied the 3.7s. Now I look at everything and it tell me I'm running a 9800 pro. How can I tell if I'm seeing this right? What do I look for and/or where do I go to check the card's clock specs? Going to run 3DMark right now to see if it's real.
