ATI Device Detection

I recently had an icon show up in my system tray called ATI Device detection. Any clue what it is? A Google search turned up zilch. I installed the newest Catalyst like a week ago and I swear it didn't show up until yesterday.

got the new omegas and dont have that problem. Disable it from msconfig if its in there..good luck

I just installed MMC 9 and it showed up soon after that.
but I have been messing with alot of things since trying to install systemworks 2003 after a previous install of NIS 2002 :|

Yeah, I meant to mention that it's definately associated with MMC and not the Video Drivers itself. Still it's annoying that there's no explanation of it anywhere. It does nothing if you double click it, and if you R Click and select help, you find out that the help file isn't found. Arrrgh....

Just run msconfig and disable it, or go to the registry and delete it from the "Run" entry. I edited the registry and it has not caused any problems.

Yeah, I know how to get rid of it, it just annoys me that there is no information on it anywhere, including ATI's own site

i think it is the program that FIRST runs when you install MMC. It checks your computer to see if it is set up ideally to play DVDs.

i just installed MMC9 and haven't seen it . . . perhaps it isn't supposed to show up in the startup (no idea about that).

oh . . . the latest Cats. 😛

ed9it: i think i am a version back . . .

. . . . oops . . . several versions back. 😱
