Why is this software generally hated?
Because there are far better solutions that are faster, leaner and offer more options.

Also AA modes are still buried far too deep in the Task Bar panel. Whoever designed the menu is obviously not a gamer by any stretch of the imagination.

Here's an anecdote. I had a system in which I replaced an X800 Pro with a 6800U, Windows finishes loading(I define this by logged in and every last thing being loaded, the hard drive has gone idle) about 20 seconds faster without CCC.

I use an old freeware program called "Startup Cop" to keep programs out of my startup routine despite only restarting on average once a week. It keeps it from even running unless I want it which is seriously not often.

People always have to find something to complain about. I'm mean, how often does one have to open up CCC anyways.

It's not just opening up, it's the fact that its loaded into memory even when it isn't open. Is there even a reason for it? As far as I know, all the settings are kept in the registry, so why must it be open?

I didn't mind CCC until I started using ATI Tray Tools. Previously I was using CCC to change AA and AF settings, and ATI Tools or TRIXX for overclocking. Now I can use ATI Tray Tools for everything. The ATT profiles are superb, overclocking the card automatically depending on which game I'm playing. It can also overlay card GPU and framerate across any game (like FRAPS), and has fan speed control. After using ATT, CCC looks just like a bloaty program with few features for the power user.

Yes, there are ways to keep it from loading. The fact that it wants to do a massive preload in the first place however is part of the reason I don't consider it a well designed program.

Hated?

Not really. People just need something to bitch and cry about. It takes 20-odd seconds to load... Oh no? Games take longer than that to load. Are people going to cry and bitch about that next?

The options are not hidden in the menus. I took a few seconds to click View>Advanced to show all the options, and a few more to find the options for AA, and all the other things in the CCC.

It uses like.. 17mb of RAM. What? That still leaves people that game, and people that don't thesse days, with around about a gb. What's the big deal? You're not going to have alt-tabbed out of a game to do what you're doing, at best you could be browsing the web, listening to music, using photoshop, some 3D rendering tool, Word, general crap that's not exactly a RAM hog.

Nope, sorry, a better reason needs to be fabricated for people to have a legitimate reason to bitch and whine about CCC.

So instead of being turned away by the shortcomings of ATI CCC, we "just need something to bitch and cry about"?

I change my hardware alot and depending on drivers, other software you load and the order it loads in CCC can load nice or be a totally unmanageable piece of crap that
crashes your system.

I avoid it totally now in favor of ATI Tray Tools.

If you are lucky and somehow CCC works great then good for you,
but try to realize this is definitely not the case for many other people.

LOL - Soon CCC will have "Aero Glass" cool cars and you will need
Microsoft DRM to hear the "realistic screeching tires" in 14.1 sound..
Oh..then a little cartoon character will pop up and explain it:disgust:

But OMG it's not overly horrible. And RAM usage, rofl...

can't believe how ATI fans are willing to defend ATI to the extent of insanity...it just irritates me to see these kind of comments on an obviously flawed software. ( at least to many people who actually use it)

Well here's my story....

This is the first time that i installed a ATI grafix card in my comp, and going from onboard to an X1800XL was a huge diff, but using the CCC compared to before (when i did not have it installed), my PC was alot faster.

I have two profiles and whenever i switch from 1 to the other the system would switch fast but after i installed that CCC and .net my PC is very slow.

Is there any program that allows me to see my Video cards temps, has some oc features, some settings that deal with grafix quality and such.

I'm thinking of using that Ati Tray Tools, can any one recomend it and can someone give me a link to it.

Thanks.

I installed CCC/.net because it's the only option right now to adjust all the settings on my x1900xtx. I was using ATT before, and as soon as it's updated to support the x1900's I'm going back to ATT and uninstalling the bloated CCC. It takes about 5s longer for my computer to finish booting up, and the mem usage at idle is about 100mb higher. It's not THAT big of a deal, but I shouldnt have to put up with the bloat when a much more efficient program can do the same job. I've always hated bloat, avoid it in my own code, and in other programs I use.

Take your own challenge. You are claiming that it uses about 330mb of ram. Lets see the proof. It wasnt anywhere close to that for me.

Although I can agree that CCC has it downfalls...i never actually experienced any bad moments with CCC at all. Although my exprience with Nvidia's control panel was more friendly lol

I say uninstall only CCC and install one of above. .net is the most popular platform and you'll eventually need to have it installed for one reason or the other.

Then try ATT, its better. CCC uses way more resources than is necessary. Unless you have 1900, then you probably have to stick w. CCC.

Thanks.

By the way is there any program that can display my cpu's temp, motherboards temp, and grafix card temp and if posible also show their fan speeds.

Thanks again.

I believe ATT does.

edit: NV: it only does GPU I believe.

umm.. try your motherboard manufacturer. They usually have a monitor software for their boards.

or there are other ones..umm..powerstripe? I don't quite remember.. sorry

Yeah Ackmed I wish I did'nt sell the card same day I got it and people had asked me for SS in my original thread trying to fiqure out what hell was going on. I don't have it - That's why I ask y'all to do it! Simple two SS one of performance tab one of processes tab on boot with CCC installled.
