Hi all,

I just installed a new ati radeon 4870 video card, and installed the latest catalyst drivers (9.2), and now every time i shutdown or restart, i get a ".net broadcast event window" cannot be closed message.

Ive been searching around on this problem, and installed UPHclean, but im still having the problem.

Anyone have this issue, and/or know how to fix it?

cheers!

If messing with the cat doesnt seem to work.. u can try to mess with the .net framework or something like that in the .net stuff... I only know there is some issues in the recent Cats that only a few people have... no clue why..., mine is that the second gpu in the 4870x2 is always at max speed even in windows... when is suppose to reduce speed and save some power lol...

Ive tried all i can think of...
I uninstalled all the .net framework (at which point a lot of stuff stopped working), reinstalled the latest .net framework and service pack, reinstalled the ATi drivers, and it still happens.

Its not the end of the world, but its pretty irritating and i'd like to fix it. it never happened with my nvidia cards.

Why wouldn't it be a CCC / .net issue? The display driver doesn't require .net to work, but CCC does.

All you need to do is goto control panel and uninstall all the ATi software and then load the driver manually using device manager.

The inf path for Vista 64-bit or Win7 64-bit would be the following.
C:\ATI\SUPPORT\9-2_vista64_dd_ccc_wdm_enu_75977\Driver\Packages\Drivers\Display\LH6A_INF\CH_75977.inf

Once that's done, then just install ATi Tray Tools to control OC, and DX/OpenGL settings.

If your using Vista 64bit or Win7 64bit you'll need to download the 2 files.

1) Use the dseo program to put the windows in test mode.
2) Use the watermark remover to remove the test mode watermark.

OK, that makes sense... i wasnt sure what required .net, as i havent used an ATi card in a long time.

I uninstalled all ATI sw, and installed just the video drivers and ati tray tools. seems to be working after a few restarts.
hopefully this will be the last annoyance of this PC build... (knock on wood)

Thanks for the help SSChevy.
