ATI Catalyst 9.3.1

Get it here. This is the periodic update AMD will be issuing every few months since they dropped legacy support from the mainline monthly release driver.

Boy, ATI really f***ed owners of prior-gen graphics cards over. Want to mix older and newer cards (multi-mon)? You're stuck with Catalyst 9.3.

Want to run older cards in Windows 7? You're screwed, the "legacy cards" driver is only for XP and Vista.

No Windows 7 support? I thought the first 9.3 release had Windows 7 support? Why would they get rid of it in future updates?

What'd happen if you used a new non legacy driver (like 9.6) with an unsupported card? Would it just not work?

it will not install, because it will not detect any supported hardware... same thing as trying to install ati driver on nvidia card.

Just install Vista drivers if you're on Windows 7.

:roll: Pick up a Radeon 4350 for 30 bucks, it'll run just fine in 7 with any other 3xx0 or 4xx0 card. If you're still using a card older enough to be on legacy support, its probably an upgrade.

well amd didnt stop releasing drivers for legacy cards, they just shifted focus on windows 7 and HD series, they will update the legacy cards every 4 months or so, after what i read somewhere

btw YOU can use Vista drivers on 7, and the legacy cards are DX9 and older

i think they should allways drop old cards when a new os comes out, why? sometimes YOU have to drop something to get something back, heck they went unifed vista/7 and i bet DX11/DX10 had a big role in it to

No kidding. I was just looking at these drivers when updating a box I have with an X1900XTX... there appears to be nothing different about them. ATI's idea of quarterly updates appears to be taking the 9.3 drivers and reissuing them.

And lord help you if you want to run Windows 7; apparently ATI has no intention of offering Win7 support for what was their top-of-the-line card when Vista came out...
