Thanks for the tip... downloading.

The LINUX drivers are nowhere to be found. I guess their LINUX web sysadmin is busy playing tuxracer or something....

Quad XF eh? I think using dual GPU XF (or SLI) is still pretty brave given bugs, quirks, incompatibilities, and scaling issues. Triple, quad, that's really life on the bleeding edge.

I just hope it is more stable/bug-free, gives good CAL/BROOK+ support on all platforms, and especially gives us decent fully capable temperature/fan/power savings control (although I see claims that it broke the pathetic degree of fan control that even formerly existed....)...

I assume there are various game fixes and other tweaks as well? Otherwise should I just stick with 8.8 since I don't need any of the above features?

And anyone else find their fan profiles don't work after upgrading?

Some times you have to reactivate the profile, especially if you've reinstalled the CCC.

Can anyone else confirm super high framerates in the Company of Heroes benchmark?

With the 8.8's in Vista x64, I got 3.9 FPS minimum, when I was getting 46.3 FPS minimum with the 8.7's. I never could fix the issue, even after cleaning drivers and reinstalling.

I went back to XP x64, and was getting 41.3 FPS minimum with the 8.8's. Now, I install the 8.9's, and everything is screwy again. New framerates:

AVG: 184.8
MAX: 345.0
MIN: 69.8

I'm no software engineer, but this is impossible. I have the screenshot to prove it. I made absolutely no changes other than installing the 8.9's. Everything is at default in CCC. In CoH, I run 1280x768 (can't tell the difference between this and 1680x1050, but it runs faster), everything maxed and 8x AA. My only guess is that something isn't being rendered. However, I don't see anything missing in the benchmark or in-game. Anyone else getting similar results?

System:
E8400 @ stock
4850 @ stock
4 GB PC6400 @stock

DID you uninstall 8.8 completely before installing 8.9?

looks like theres steady improvement since the 4xxx series came out. nvidia gives us official drivers once every 6 months =)

after installing 8.9, GPU-Z reports crazy core clock speeds for my 4850 (737324 MHz core/500 MHz). I've used RBE to flash my card to 720/1100, lol.

Power play is working fine, and the clocks are set correctly at idle and under load. Just wondering if anyone else ran into this...

It'd be amazing though if these were real speeds.

Edit:
a picture is worth several thousand MHz...

Finally they are out. I don't hear any news as to whether they unofficially support the Xorg 7.4 prerelease on Fedora 9 though. I know they don't officially support Xorg 7.4. Nvidia has had good unofficial support for it for several months though, so I'll be disappointed if ATI *still* won't work with it.

so is it true new ati drivers don't require uninstall+restart before installing?

I always uninstall then reboot and install new ones and reboot once more after.

8.9s working fine on my Gigabyte 4870 card,Warhammer Online is still working fine, mind you I only ever had one crash since Warhammer open beta went live over week ago.

So yeah...... Anyone have any success with the profiles with Catalyst 8.9? I can't get them working at all. I have a Sapphire 4870 card and have to manually change some things otherwise my games crash, so this is a big deal to me. Any alternative programs I could use that can control gpu clock and or fan speed that work with Vista 64?

Edit: Nevermind guys, I got it working XD. I just had to go and unlock ATi Overdrive in the Catalyst Control Center and then my profile's fan and clock settings took effect once I activated the profile again.
