ATI Catalyst 8.2 are Out

Yeah, also checked earlier today. Thanks, bluehaze, would've missed 'em otherwise.

Hmm, still no fix for shadows in Medieval2.

Well the Egg just got the Asus 3870X2's in and I just orderd one.... I'll have to check this driver out next week.

Sweet will try em out.

Performance improvements with this release of Catalyst includes Company of Heroes DX10 frame rates increasing as much as 20% across all of the ATI Radeon HD 2x00 series of products and on all ATI Radeon HD 3x00 series of products. These performance improvements are even larger (up to 30%) for CrossFire configurations. 🙂

Do these fix that stupid white dot in the top lefthand corner bug where you have to disable the tray icon to be rid of it?

Yes, no dot. Additionally it recognizes my 3850's as "3800 series", I guess making it easier for 3850+3870 config.

EDIT 1: Removed

Just noticed upon bootup that my screen brightness gets automatically lowered
That sounds like a bug to me, unless they've got separate desktop & game gamma controls and this release has lowered the desktop one.

Could be, since I defragged and installed a few things i can't seem to repeat it...disregard the above statement then 😛.

How come the linux 8.2s don't have support for the 3000 series cards? It doesn't seem like it'd be all that hard to implement given that they already have support for the 2900s. And they've hard a couple revisions of Catalyst released since the debut of the 3800s.

did you run a diagnostic? it is not a usual thing for CCC to crash regularly 😛
-perhaps something else is wrong.

Says it is out of stock. I don't see the point in paying for a brand name. Maybe if you just wanted the free games that came with it. There are even 3 (1 out of stock) cards now $20 cheaper than the ASUS

I used to have major problems with ccc. I think that I had an ...ahem... "unofficial" copy of windows at the time. now that I'm using my old xp home copy I don't have any problems.

Thanks didn't know I had to ask you what card to buy. Anyway I got it for the 3 year warranty from a company I can trust.

haha you don't have to ask me I was stating my opinion.
I guess paying the extra $10/$20 for 1 or 2 years extra warranty might be worth it but can you trust them? The ASUS web site says in the warranty page to contact the reseller on the warranty of VGA/phisx cards and newegg says none refundable and replacement within 30 days. I really don't understand how ASUS handles the warranty but it seems confusing and misleading. IMO any of the companies selling cards on newegg are reputable enough to justify buying the card they are certified by ATI to be partners.

Does this correct the AGP issues that previously required the hotfix (I believe that glitch has existed since the late 7.x line)?

Go to C:/ATI/catalyst folder/setup.exe run that....click 'uninstall' when thats done- restart.
When you come back into windows run Driversweeper (note in vista you must run it in admin mode) restart again.
On returning to windows for the last time, run the 8.2 package and you're set.

I would think so, most of the time the hotfixes are added to the next release- give it a try and find out.
