Downloaded Cat 4.11's and I had some problems aswell. Firstly, my card was clocked at a 100% stable 500 / 1100 on my 4.10s using ATITool. I installed 4.11's and now I get tons of artifcats when I log in to windows. I am thinking about putting 4.10's back as I did get better performance overclocked.

Jack01,since you were trying to install the new CCC,did you make sure you`ve NetFramework 1.1 installed since it`s needed with the new CCC(get it from Window`s update) or here .

Btw welcome to the AT forums.

Also it only supports these cards at this time,
Supported on the RADEON 9500, RADEON 9600, RADEON 9700, RADEON 9800, RADEON X300, RADEON X600, RADEON X700 or RADEON X800 Series of products.

If you still get problems try the old control panel and driver download(26.1mb package) if that installs ok,you can try installing the new CCC after.

@Mem

thanks 4 your welcome m8...

yeah i have radeon 9600 pro 256 mb ram

ill try 2 install netframework 1.1 and then reply again..

thanks again,

J.

Hmm. On the ATI site, it says that they "recommend Windows XP Service Pack 2 or higher" is installed before installing the 4.11 drivers. As I'm holding off on SP2 until I get done with some current projects, does that mean I shouldn't take a chance on using these drivers? Has anyone else installed them on a pre-SP2 system, and if so, did you have any problems?

maybe this caused the problem because it requires .NET Framework...

is catalyst control center supported by the 9550 series? it was not mentioned above, and i checked ATI's site, was not able to find it either...anyone tried it on 9550? if so, what's the outcome?

I just registered to thank those that helped out with this issue. I had the same problem, so I'm glad that I found out how to fix it once I get home. You guys are the best!

if i update ATI drivers, do i need to aquire also the latest control panel that comes with the latest graphic driver or the previous control panel would do? my card is 9550 and i think CCC doesn't support it yet...i'm running on version catalyst 4.5(bundled in the installation CD)...

I`m not sure if your card supports the new CCC,anyway just download the smaller 26.1mb package (4.11s with the old control panel for now),it`s less bloated and ATi are still finding the odd bug or two with the new CCC,btw I`m using the old control panel and 4.11s,as you know using the new CCC is optional(if your card supports it).

You can simply install the latest Control Panel instead of the of the CCC and that should work fine for your drivers.

it worked fine, installed catalyst 4.11 graphic driver only without the new control panel...still using the original control panel and so far no problem... 🙂

You don't need to uninstall the previous display driver first (anymore)?

I went from 4.9 to 4.11 and now there's any annoying "issue". Fade-ins are terribly slow in Windows Explorer (Windows XP SP1) and other apps. For example, when you right click on a file and get a context-menu, it takes about 2-3 seconds to come up. Similarly if you hover over an icon and wait for a tooltip to pop up. Quite annoying.

FWIW, the card is a Radeon 9800 NP. Guess I'll have to learn to cope, disable fade effects, or else downgrade to 4.10.

Edit:
Problem doesn't occur for scroll effects.
