I'm using Cat 3.10 cause it's the best driver for COD. So my question is this driver stable with COD?

Hmm, do these have Geometry Instancing enabled by default? I tried running Far Cry 1.2 Patch on my 9800 Pro with it enabled in 4.9 Cats, but it was graphically messed up. I once ran GI on Far Cry with an earlier CAT (4.7? 4.8?) and it seemed to work fine.

Um, I just uninstalled my drivers, booted into safe mode, ran driver cleaner, did everything that your supposed to do. Then I installed .net 1.1, then i installed the 44MB file with the CCC, i go into windows after its installed and double click it, NOTHING, i cannot boot into the CCC, not only that but I still have the original control panel? Help?

screw the CCC. the old control panel rocks. (26 meg version) i like how ATI is releasing both versions though. i'll get 4.10 once omega drivers modifies them =)

Hmm, according to the posts at Rage3D, the 4.10 Cats are older than the beta 8.07 drivers and don't have the 256MB memory bug fix that the beta drivers had.

So what's the verdict on the CCC? Does it still crash like the last one, does it still feel like it's sticking out of ordinary windows apps, and is it any use now?

I dunno. The "last one" (by which I assume you mean the version bundled with the 4.9s) didn't crash for me, and seems to work fine. It doesn't match with regular Windows apps -- but then again, neither does NVIDIA's stupid control panel, either.

lots of things count revisions that way.

Linux kernels are a good example. You see things like 2.4.24 all the time.

It's like saying major revision = 4 minor revision = 9 why doesn't it make sense to go from minor revision 9 to minor revision 10 when it would make sense to go from 9 to 10 on teh major revision?

What do you want them to use, the Imperial system?

Noid, do some D3 and Sims2 testing if you have those games. Those are 2 games with the biggest problems right now AFAIK.

Sorry, I uninstalled D3 2 weeks ago.... and I dont have SIMS

___________ Edit )____________

Well, I rechecked my settings to make sure ...

I also lost alittle under 100 points in 3dM05...

I'm going back to 4.9

Does 100points in 3dmark05 and 200 points in 3dmark01 (you still run this!?) mean that much to you?

Well I think that's just plain moronic (no offense) but to each his own :p .

Btw - that's a pretty sweet o/c in your sig - 9700 Pro at 410/375. Respect!

Makes my unwilling 9800Pro look pretty sad (stuck at stock .. curse you R350 core!).

Problems? My score went from 27.4FPS to 31.1FPS in Doom 3 at 1280 on my 9700PRO by installing the Cat 4.10's. I didn't notice any visual anomolies, even with AI turned on.

How am I NOT supposed to take offense to your unsolicited opinion ...?

I had some respect for you and your posts... but, you have lost that now ...

Stick it where the sun don't shine.

Heh, apparently humour is not one of your strong points today... Next time I'll ask for you for permission to jest ;) .

ugh... I guess thats an apology :/ ...?
Accepted ..

Next time try using a .... j/k ... ? Since I don't remember everyones type of humor here

As you can see from the above posts ... singling me out about loss of FPS was unwarranted.

And ... as other members start installing these drivers ,,, I'm sure you'll see more

P.S> I recently did a GPU volt mod, and slapped a Northpole on it.

Noid, as I said earlier, I got a ~10% boost in Doom 3 with these drivers. In the release notes, ATi said to expect a 5-9% performance boost for R300 using these drivers.

Gains from what release ...?
The 4.9's are the ones that gave me 5%

Thanks for the update :)
But I'm not playing that game anymore.
I finished it 2 weeks ago.
So, I probably wont re-install until a good mod comes out :p
I'm currently trying to finish NOLF2.
(I putit ona back burner when I got stuck in a level)

Do you have any of the 3dMark benches ...?
Did you lose anything ...?

If you see gains on those ... I may try a re-install

Very good plan, Canadian federal budget released surplus figures today.

Noid, there won't be any gains on 3DMark, but really what difference does it make?

The reason these drivers are faster is because of the new "AI" feature which optimizes the driver for certain games. 3DMark is exempt from AI to prevent cheating.

I feel like my videocard is suddenly 20% faster for free compared to how it ran a couple of months ago. Kudos to ATi for two very solid driver releases.

I was trying to find a thread for reading ...

stating that te 4.10's are actually older than the 4.9's ... and that theydont contain the 256mb card fix either ...

If you skiped the 4.9's ... you should try them also
(two months ago was 4.8's)

The question is can u use catalyst AI w/o getting the CCC and just using the old style? I assume no, but I really am not 100% sure.
Also from what i remember, there are game specific and general optimizations both within Catalyst AI?
