Half-Life plays like @ss, I think my TNT2 card worked better. Lots of tearing, and slow framerates. Sheesh

Not to mention I like the new clone mode options.

Agreed.

Most likely this!

I've been using this on my Saphire card and never had a problem. I don't see why a different brand would need different drivers.

Saphire makes ATI's cards. They're one in the same. Other manufacturers sometimes do have problems with ATI drivers.

Some manufacturers alter the reference design when making a company's video card, and therefore the normal drivers won't work. As above, Sapphire doesn't deviate from the reference design, at least not to the point where new drivers are needed.

Maybe the people having the problems should reformat and start fresh with the new drivers, could be a registry thing....

This may sound strange, but I have been having strange audio problems with my A7N8X deluxe in Emperor (Dune and in W2K w my 9700 pro), and after installing the 3.4 cat's all problems went away ! I have changed nothing else !!!!! These are great as well as my 3dmark going up, and no pausing !!

No difference noticeable to me. Don't benchmark much I just play games and they work fine. Haven't tried 3d03 to see what I get compared to before.

Well, I just installed them, and jumped into Counter Stike, and I was suprised to see 33 fps, and down to the teens. WTF I thought, so I exited, turned off my TV out (tv is hooked up) and my second monitor (running off my 2nd SIS cheap pci video card) and went back in to Counter Strike, and 99fps... that is with 4XFSAA and 16X AF. on my 9700PRO.

So my advice to anyone having problems, disable your secondary monitor when play your games.. see if that will help.
In my case, it could be the half-life engine defaulting to software mode due to the 2 different videocards.. not sure,k but disabling the 2 monitors (TV and Second monitor) cleared up any problems I had.

BFG10K is right,

Same here with my TV out, I had to turn it off, you only need that when watching movies. Its just two clicks.

Nice my 3DMark'03 went from 5033 to 5207 after changing the CATs from 3.2 to the new 3.4s. Games all look the same to me and I never had any artifacts or corruption before so I wasn't really expecting a change.

3.4's work OK for me... some games seem to be more "playable" , they seem to just run more seemless... other than that, not much difference... great stability so far though... IE: no problems.
