Catalyst 10.4 is out and why do you want it? Its the first revision of the driver that no longer has the resume from hibernate problem it also is much better at DP to VGA. Im not 100% but I also think the screen blackout issue on the DP port might be solved too.

I run Triple monitors all VGA and use an Displayport to VGA adapter (Non powered from Bytec) which was a pain to get working correctly in triple monitor mode. I bought another companies DP to VGA adapter with no success and even a nice dell monitor no success. It would sometimes default to 640x480 and be a nightmare getting back into 1920x1080 x 3. usually I would have to power everything down disconnect everything else blah blah.

With the 10.4 drivers
The Bytec DP to VGA adapter is working like a charm right to 1920x1080
Resume from hibernate still generates the lost DP message however the DP monitor powers back out of hibernate. No more quick change the resolution to get it back from sleep.
Finally I was gaming last night and dont recall the DP screen going dark once in the game.

UPDATE MAY 12, 2010 TO CLARIFY:
I am using a cheap DP to VGA adapter and its working great.

Technically its not passive but it doesnt require additional power so some people confuse this with passive adapters because its just a short cable despite thier being a chip inside the casing.

DP to VGA Adapter was $25.00 I think? Much cheaper than powered ones costing $70.00+
2 x DVI to VGA Adapters.

I have 3 monitors that are VGA. Those cheap emachines/acer 1920x1080 ones from Staples that cost me $95.00 each after using $25.00 coupon codes on each. VGA on these looks as good as any DVI/HDMI connection. Very surprised by that but they really are that clear.

I do not have the remote desktop issue but cant say that I did before the update. Never saw the mouse pointer issue ever someone else has below.

Does the CCC Host application stop crashing when you remote desktop in to your PC? :|

The Linux version seems to have sped things up on my HD3300 based motherboard ATI video.

But wait, you're saying you're using a passive adapter, and it still works?

I'm getting so much contradicting info on the need of passive vs active adapters.

10.4 is so great I was thinking about making a thread, too.

Even though they didn't list any fixes that I had problems for, these seem to have taken care of every issue I had with my 1GB 4870.

I see i'm not the only one, happens on 4xxx and 5xxx. CCC wouldn't always restart just fine for me after it crashed though, didn't see it is as high alert.

If you want to go from DP -> DVI/HDMI, you need active

If you want to go from DP to VGA, you need passive, but you're stuck with VGA

Well, mouse cursor bug is still around. Not really disappointed since it's so common I'm completely use to it by now. In fact, I start freaking out when the cursor is its regular size cause it's harder to see now.

Both screens went blank (as usual during installation), but this time they didn't come back up after a moment. Had to hard-reset my computer, even though it seemed to be working fine in the background (music running fine). CCC shows 10.4 now, so I guess everything installed fine... I guess *sigh*

What I do love about these drivers is that they finally moved the video encoder into the advanced menu. No more having to switch back to basic just to encode then back to advanced for regular use about damn time!

The mouse cursor bug is when the mouse cursor changes to a giant pixellated version of the mouse cursor and stays that way until you reboot.

I fixed mine by flashing my P55 motherboard BIOS (Gigabyte GA-P55-UD4P, rev 1). Go figure. No, I don't know why that fixed it.

I doubt that. Afaik the only reason why DP --> DVI/HDMI works is because you just reroute the signal, which is (obviously) impossible for the VGA signal. So there aren't any passive DP --> VGA adapters, they're all active.

Correction:

DP to single link DVI/HDMI can be done passively, everything else requires active

I have a GA-P55M-UD2, heard the mouse cursor bug is especially bad with Gigabyte boards. I could reflash it, especially since it has a back-up BIOS onboard, but I don't know, everyone else works fine, and I don't want to screw with the BIOS if I don't have to. Maybe I should try it on the weekend.

Those of you with the big cursor issue are you running XP, Vista, or Windows 7?
Also did you specify a mouse cursor group or are you using the default mouse pointer set?

Im running Windows 7 64bit and never changed the default mouse pointers and dont have the issue.

running windows 7 64bit. default everything, no custom settings. still get the big mouse cursor. i also learned to deal with it and never even bother to google if others have same issue.

Same, Wind 7 64-bit, default cursor set.

It's stopped bothering me too. Only annoying thing is that I know it's a bug.
