Jeez guys, it's a driver. It's not like it's supposed to add like 50% performance to your card or somethin, lol.

Its improved my frames per second by 10-15 in most games.....

a new driver every month doesn't make a driver better or worse. It's the amount of bugs and stuff, and from what I've heard nVidia has better drivers...

Wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!.... I have used both Nvidia and ATI cards and like the monthly updates by ATI for their drivers,Nvidia seem to have really slowed down the pace in driver updates over the years,FYI I have never had any gaming problems with ATI drivers.

Yep ,Driver Cleaner is an excellent program which I use for both ATI and Nvidia drivers.

Btw no problems to report with 5.8s on my PC .

Hahahah. Some of these huge "gains" people are talking about are probably because default settings got changed.

nope 🙂 I know for a fact I'm getting more fps, and you notice all of us saying we are getitng huge gains are people with x800xl...and the test ukino posted didnt show the x800xl.

I see a tremendous difference in performance in Doom 3 (timedemo demo1) at high setting with res. of 800x600 and my 9800 Pro!!!

I went from 46 FPS to 36 FPS! Holy crap...I had to revert back to Catalyst 4.1 to get back to ~46 FPS.

Maybe I'll get better performance with some other titles.

In June 2005, ATI commissioned AppLabs, a leading provider of quality assurance and testing, to conduct the test

That sounds REAL credible...

I'm gonna install drivers now.

Report back if you notice a difference or if we're all crazy 😀

Dont try to pass off that ATi paid them, unless you have proof.

from the PR:
In June 2005, ATI commissioned AppLabs, a leading provider of quality assurance and testing, to conduct the test, pitting ATI's Radeon® display adaptors against comparable NVIDIA GeForce products.

Nvidia just released two drivers in less than a month, and 4 drivers in 5 months... I may not be 5 in 5 months, but it's not terrible.

My FPS in BF2 does seem a bit better but after about an hour of playing I randomly dropped back to my desktop... Its never done that before.

Its BF2's way of telling you that you played too much 😀 and should get off, its like in L2 after an hour it will msg you telling you ''You have been playing for an hour, for your health please take a 15 minute break.''

^^

Got them to work with old control panel.

My CPU is now at 2.6GHZ, RAM 217mhz 2-2-2-7 vs. what is in the sig;

I lost 10fps in Video Stress Test (HL2/CSS). I was getting 104fps with system in sig and now I'm getting 94fps.

I'll see what BF2 says, but it's hard to tell with renderer.drawfps 1

For what you do... In my realm, ATI is mo betta. Less green screening in the review monitors, fewer blue screens.

From the experience I just had, Nvidia > ATI for drivers. Plus the 5.8s made me lose about 10fps, never a good thing.
