ATI Cat 5.8s

i'm curious about it as well, but the fact it came out pretty quick doesn't lead me to beleive there are many performance enhancements

a new driver every month doesn't make a driver better or worse. It's the amount of bugs and stuff, and from what I've heard nVidia has better drivers...

You heard wrong, ATI > nvidia when it comes to drivers.

I strongly disagree. I moved from a 9600 to a 6800 and NVIDIA's drivers may not be as pretty but they are FAR more stable.

"So" I think it's your system.

In June 2005, ATI commissioned AppLabs, a leading provider of quality assurance and testing, to conduct the test

ATI paid them?

Lindon, UT - June 9, 2005 - In an independent quality and stability test by AppLabs (formerly KeyLabsTM), ATI?s recently released CatalystTM 5.6 Software Suite proved to be more stable than the equivalent publicly available NVIDIA offering

publicly available NVIDIA offering? which means what? give me a number.

I personally had experience with both manufacturers and I prefer ATI over nvidia. If you have the latest craze then Nvidia is better (ie: SLI 6800U) but if you have some of the older Nvidia cards like FX, then updating drivers gets you into more trouble yet doesn't address the issues that caused you to look for updated drivers. ATI has good overall support for all its products and has a more stable interface.

Well...I just played brothers in arms, on 5.7 I was getting a max of 30 fps(ofcourse this is on max settings), now with 5.8 I am getting 45-50+ 😀 gonna try other games and report back.

I use to get 60 fps average for CS source and now i get 70 fps Average. Awesome.

I'm running at native resolution on a dell 20inch widescreen monitor.
All high settings including AA and AF maxed.

zomg 😱 I was getting 50-60 fps...now with even BT on, aim, msn, speedfan, etc etc I was getting 90-110 frames per second...maybe because it was an open level but I am sure I am getting 20-30 more fps 😀

Its amazing i love them. BF2 before i had to run it on 1280x960, All Medium, 4x AA for no lag. Now i get to run 1280x960, All HIGH, 4xAA NO STUTTERING!! WOOOOT. Average of 80 fps. I love Ati
