ati cards with win98

i recently upgraded an old p2-400 computer with an ati 7500 card so i can get dvi output. It's a basic internet computer, no gaming.

When i put the card in and installed the latest catalyst, the computer will freeze after about 30-45 minutes of use, sometimes a lot sooner. I don't know if this is a hardware issue or driver issue. are there any known issues with catalyst drivers with win98 se?

I put my old tnt2 card back in and it is stable. no freeze.

so is there a known issue with catalyst drivers or radeon with win 98 se?

I have installed a Radeon 9000 in a P3-500 system(Win 98SE), and it worked great. Did you thoroughly remove all traces of your nvidia drivers?. Might want to make sure 'fastwrites' is turned off.
How about power supply? Is it fairly strong?

actually i didn't have any residual nvidia drivers because i reinstalled windows in a new directory!

I would still run Driver Cleaner from here ,fastwrites should be disabled both in BIOS and ATI Smartgarttab which is in ATI control panel.

You have tried installing latest 4.1 drivers & DX9?I know you don`t game but I would still install them.
