ATi cards are ahead significantly in Halflife 2 over Nvidia cards

And thats about as diplomatically as I can state this, as the X800pro trumps the 6800u in the game.
I dont think its a surprise that ATi cards did well considering their architecture but I certainly didnt predict the differential would be so large.

wait until trusted becnhies are released from sources like FS, Xbit, and AT.
 
hmm..very odd, seems those benchies are ripped right off from the benchmarks the inquirer had, the inquirer acquired the benchies from an ATi presentation.

Actually if you actually look at both of the benches you see they are not identical =o
 
see, didnt take long for DH to get called out on more BS.

They did this before w/ CS:Source. And we all know who won the CS:Source benchies.
 
DH is probably using really old Forceware drivers.

Just remember every article they report about is pretty much an ad for Ati.
 
says 4.12s and 66.93s were used. so I don't see the big mystery. xtpe is ~20% faster than the 6800ultra. was that really going to be such a big surprise?

but, yeah, let's definitely see some more benches!!! can never have enough!

So which engine wins? Or as I suspect does far cry still end up ahead?

 
Its not sponsorship so much, Doom 3 is texture orientated and Halflife 2 is shader orientated. Both companies sat down and decided to go one direction or the other.

If you know anything about hardware you'd know that the ATi cards are designed for the type of output that Halflife 2 produces. These benchmarks are no surprise.
 
If it is true that Driverheaven is a Fanboy site, then that would mean the nVidia benches will be higher, as is they are'nt anything to sneeze at.


I'll just have to crank out some more power from my 6800LE, 425/1200 ought'ta do it 😛
 
The upsetting fact is that other sites will probably not use the 4.12 betas because they are beta drivers and yet they offered several bug fixes and 10-15% increases on the timedemo.

Yeah, most of the reputable sites do not like, or will not, use beta drivers from either.

Of course the nvidia hardware runs this game well. But unless someone cranks out some results showing the gt killing the pro, the nvidia saleman will be soon posting more venom. Is an ATI game and ATI produces nice graphics cards. I would expect the game to run well on ATI. Why do you guys need a winner so badly? Is the game any damn good? Still waiting for my copy............
