This article doesnt even make sense. They say Nvidia and ATI are going to compete with a low end integrated solution by producing a high end niche market product?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Intel has always made practically useless integrated 3D solutions and anyone wanting any performance gets an ATi/nVidia GPU. This is not news, and like Genx said, you don't compete with the low end by releasing the ultra high end.

I think they meant to convey they will offer a low cost product that is superior and will rival higher end products.

Which would make sense since I dont believe there is much sense is making a seperate low end line of chips. One chip to rule them all.

Eh?

they're basically saying that the G70 what we used to call the NV47, and the G80 line (I think) is what we used to call the NV50.

Doesn't ATI's Xpress 200, nVidia's nForce 410/6100, and nForce 430/6150 chipsets already cream Intel's GMA 900/950?

I had respect for ther staff at Digitimes and Guru3D before looking at this piece.

Thoroughly - they just need to get the chipsets into more and more Intel-based boards and systems, where the low-end units can actually move.

Y'know, since anyone with half a clue about gaming buys an A64 and discrete GPU anyhow. ;)

I don't think Intel is going to let a foreign chipset onto their boards. :D

Yep. Most hardcore folks DON'T buy an Intel board. I can see where ATI and nVidia would want to woo the OEMs into going with something other than Intel. Maybe if they did, we would see fewer posts like, " How do I <fill in blank here> my Dell? "
