Does NVIDIA have any official statements or comments on the news about AMD buying ATI?

Today's news about the acquisition of ATI by AMD is a positive development for NVIDIA. We are now the only graphics processor and core logic company that supports both Intel and AMD processors. We will continue to execute on our strategy, which is to develop industry-changing GPU and platform technologies, extend the use of the GPU into new applications, and expand its reach into all computing devices - from PCs to servers to phones

How do you expect AMD's purchase of ATI to affect your partnerships with AMD?

AMD needs and wants the support of our leading brands - GeForce, nForce, Quadro, and SLI. We will continue to work with AMD to bring our brands to our mutual customers. On the other hand, our relationship with Intel is going to become much more intimate than before. We are now Intel's best GPU partner.

NVIDIA used AMD to eliminate the competition.

Once AMD takes what they need from ATI the rest will be sold off to NVIDIA.

It all makes sense now.... :Q

Please take my theory with a grain of salt (no flames) but NVIDIA sure seems cocky.

Nvidia will make these types of noises right up until being bought out by intel or amd (ati did). Discreet gpus are likely on the way out. The only strange part of this is Ati's recent seeming partnership with intel?

If you can't beat em, buy em. I guess Nvidia got tired of competition if that is true.

Nvidia now can breath lot easier with ATI slowly but surely is dying off in the hands of AMD. Nvidia can now quietly celebrate the victory that it has longed to die for.

To be honest I'm somewhat suprised AMD didn't seek to obtain their takeover loan from nvidia. I'm sure Jen Hsung Huang would have been more than receptive to such a worthy cause... :D

All NVIDIA Asshole rejoice!!! Run on the street and start screaming "VICTORY" and think about the future where NVIDIA plan is to screw everyone one over because they have no competition. They can do what ever they want and know people buy it.

AMD will have the best solution for gamers. NVIDIA will have no chance to compete with their discrete GPU.

Because AMD is suddenly a GPU expert?

It is more like if AMD and ATi work together on GPUs, tyhey will be as good as nVIDIA ones.

Well its not AMD is a GPU expert !! Its that ATI has alot of technologies and the brains but they run the company very un-efficiently. All ATI needs is a new managment that would make ATI run more smooth and quickly. AMD will just fix up the company and fire all the lazy management asshole.

LOL, let's see who's gonna celebrate what once both AMD and Intel put their own gpus onto the cpu package.

Most analysts don't think that AMD cares about chipsets or GPUs. AMD is more concerned about mobile and integrated platforms. So, since AMD now has a 2.5 billion dollar loan to pay back, it might make sense to sell that stuff to NVIDIA.

I don?t like this anymore than the next guy. I can?t really afford a true high end card and if NVIDIA stands alone, I may not be able to afford a mid-range either.

Although nothing will probably really happen in the next year or so.

CGPU is just a theory right now. Until I see a working version that can beat a seperate GPU, it's not even worth discussing.

Yeah : ) i read a article stating that AMD survival needed ATI or AMD would be doomed in 5 years when Intel would have compete solution for integrated GPU functionality in the X86 pipeline.

Maybe that's why Intel and Nvidia (NVDA), the companies' two biggest rivals, found a lot to smile about on July 24, the day the deal was announced. "I thought it was just impossible to get a gift like this," crowed Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang, in an interview with BusinessWeek.com. ATI is "basically throwing in the towel, leaving us as the only stand-alone (graphics chip) company in the world."

I think the CEO of NVIDIA knows something we don't.

QFT. Maybe he knows when G80 will be launched :p

No seriously. I'm in the same boat as Wreckage here. Sucks to have one company supplying all of the high end GPU's. Price increases, less driven development, etc. are all something that has a greater chance of happening now. Not saying they will, but the only benefit I can see from this isn't going to be an immediate one. I think hardcore gamer enthusiasts are going to be hurting from here on until this rumored unified CGPU or "DAMIT" merger brings reveloutionary hardware to the forefront.

Wow first I agree with Joker and now I agree with Josh! We need MORE video card companies NOT less. I had a Kyro (PowerVR) card. I want more options DAMIT!!!!
