Hi

Does anyone know if the All-In-Wonder has the capability to run the tv-out display at different resultion than the desktop? As far as I have read the Matrox with DualHead is the only graphics card that can do that - and it doesn't work in Windows 2000.

Would it perhaps be a better solution to get a PC videocard with tv-out? I would like to be able to watch divx movies on the telly, withouy having to switch desktop resultion.

It can not.

Your best bet might be an external scan converter, as long as your desktop resoulution is not more than 1024x768. If you want to use a higher resolution than that, scan converters start getting quite expensive.

With the AIW Radeon, you basically have to reboot your computer and watch the TV out(Divx, DVD's, play games, whatever)then reboot back to your normal desktop for everything else. the max 800 x 600 60hertz is not good for working with your comp, but the TV-out is not bad.(better than I had heard it would be)

The TV-out would only work if the card that has it is the primary display card. So if you already have a better video card in your AGP slot, you can't use the TV-out of a PCI card without designating that card as the primary display, which you probably wouldn't want to do.

Thanks a lot fot the tip!

But why is so? Is it a limitation in Windows? Does it apply for both 98/Me and 2000?

rbv5,

You don't have to reboot, you can enable and disable TV-Out on the fly as
long as it is already connected to an output device (TV or VCR). The
problem is that the TV image will not appear until you drop resolution
to 800x600 or lower.

No (it's hardware), yes, and yes.

Just one last question: Will the image show up on both the TV and the monitor? Because, then I guess this leaves me with an acceptable solution, as long as I don't have lot of icons on my desktop... And as soon as ATI make som decent drivers for Win2K. ;o)

CQuinn, I wasn't aware of that, I must have had my resolution set too high! Thanks for the great tip.

Your Right! I just plugged it in and enabled the TV on the fly, works great, good time saver  hehe

Yes. But that 800x600 is also forced to a 60Hz vertical refresh, which is very "flickery" on a monitor.
