ATI AIW X800 XT AGP $339.23 shipped AR

I just talked to an ATI PM about this. He says they are making room for some awesome new cards and that the rebates are definitely not going to be extended in the future.

hey Kristopher, is the rebate valid if an order is placed on monday? it says gift certificate through May9,2005 on the certificate...?
 
I bit, hopefully buy.com can resolve my separate billing and shipping addresses and not cause the order to be delayed.
 
That's the reply you would expect from a rep., I wouldn't be surprised if new cards (available to buy) were like 6 months or more away.
 
I'm a sucker. Its cheaper than the equivalent non-AIW cards and my 9800 Pro died this morning. It was a sign. WTF! I had to do it. I can't wait 2-3 weeks to get it back from ATI, so here comes a new card, hopefully by midweek.
I hate Buy.com, so my debate was whether to pay $5 extra for Newegg or go with ZZF. I went with ZZF, I just hope they ship it tommorow.
 
Anybody know how this card compares to the X800 XL AGP in terms of the size of the card? I bought an XL from BB not too long ago and paid about the same price as the AIW XT which sucks. The thing is I have to return my XL because it wont even fit into my case (I have an Antec performance II SOHO FT file server case). The card is so long that I cant fit it past my hard drives. From what I understand the extreme size of the card is due to the PCI Express to AGP chipset. I would love to get in on this deal but it would be pointless if the AIW is even larger. thanks for any info.
FYI the XL is about 10" long

The AIW version is not much (if any) longer than the standard x800XT, which is to say it should be almost 2 inches shorter than the x800XL AGP, which is one of the longest cards ever made by ATI.
Firingsquad has a review of the XL AGP which show it side by side with an x800XT (not the AIW version though). It should give you a pretty good idea.
 
ZZF did ship mine on Monday. Sweet! Also looks like Newegg extended the rebate till May 31st. Since the new rebate forms don't show the specific retail partner, I think the rebate could be used at any of the non-excluded (see form) online vendors.
 
I'm starting to regret sending my socket 939 AGP mobo back to get one with PCIe 🙁 Won't someone save me with a nice rebate on a PCIe card soon!!!
 
God damnit why did I buy one of these a couple weeks after release! AGH! And this card is horrible as far as AIW capability. The thing hangs like a MOFO when recording.
