In my case when I installed the software after plugging in the reciever nothing worked but the mouse curser, the remote wouldn't control any of the MMC apps. Switched the install order and everything is working fine. Device manager also showed a problem with the remote wonder controller.

can you tell me what order of installing the software worked for you?

I just went into the add/remove programs and uninstalled the ATI Remote Wonder. Unplugged the reiever and rebooted. Installed the new software and then plugged in the reciever. Been working fine since then. I'm out of ideas but as a last resort if you have 4 new AAA baterys I'd put them in just to try.

Edit incase you meant the full install order.

Installed vid drivers
Installed MMC
Installed Guideplus
Installed remote wonder

Slapstick.

I replaced the Batteries with 4 full battaries and I got no response at all of any kind other than the LED lights up on the remote, but the receiver modual, even though it has an LED continually lit, does not react with any changes on my computer, not on any of the buttons, volume channels, or anything at all.

I would like the opinion of this group about the fair thing to do.

Having exosted every avenue of trying to get the remote and the receiver to respond and based on the below information the seller of the card posted to me in private and I had reposted it here, in this thread earlier, namely:
The seller posted this in my private messages:

Yea i definately do not see a reason how it could become dead on the way there. I packed it just fine and it should of gotten there just fine. Maybe there are some configuration settings you have to change and they are possibly in the manual somewhere? If it somehow doesnt work, would you like a refund just for the remote or what?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I had done some research and calculations. a new remote presently is available from ATI for just under $50. A ATI AIW 9700 pro is available for $299 sinse the seller sold the card shipped to me at $180 and that is 60% of the new card, I estimated that 60% of the $50 cost of a remote is $30. so if the seller either gets me a new remote, or sends me 30 dollars and if he wants the damaged remote and receiver back the $4.30 to ship it back to him, is fair, but will leave me without a remote, sadly.

Do you all think that is a fair solution or what is your suggestion? or should I return the entire card and ask for the return of the money?

How many things will I not be able to do without the remote?
