So I wanted to record video today to find out that the "capture drivers" arent installed.

Long story short, everything was fine before. The proper codecs and drivers were installed. Then I installed the drivers for my Creative DXR3 DVD decoder card. For some reason on the reboot, my ATI codecs get uninstalled and I cant get them to get redetected in Device Manager nor can I reinstall them. When I disable the DXR3 card and even uninstall the drivers, nothing works. I am wondering if anyone else has seen this problem? Anyone know of any work arounds?

Thanks!

Basically the codecs show up in device managers as straight drivers. There is no way that I can just reinstall the codecs. Does anyone know a work around?

I need help!

I pulled out the decoder card and then the codecs show up if I uninstall my video card and reboot. The codecs then get recognized and installed. However, after they are installed, if I reboot again, they disappear. Anyone else having these problems?

In device manager, do you have 6 "ATI WDM *" entries under sound, video and game controllers? These are disappearing when you reboot?

What OS, MMC version, Cat drivers, WDM drivers are you using?

Yes, all six show up if I uninstall the card and reinstall it, but then if I reboot, they disappear.

When I origionally run the TV Capture executable to install the drivers, they dont show up then at all..... any ideas?

When you run the executable, the WDM drivers install "after" you reboot. Check your readme file, but normally its : Install WDM driver pack, don't reboot; Install Cat driver, reboot; Install Control Panel, reboot.

Try uninstalling the driver from "add or remove programs" and start over using the sequence outlined in the readme.

I have followed the exact sequence before, and it doesnt work for me at all.... the Vid card drivers get set up, but I am still left without the WDM codecs....

Should I be able to see something in Add or Remove Programs that shows the WDM codecs? I dont see anything about WDM...

No, you should have display driver and control panel entries, as well as MMC, DVD decoder and remote wonder entries depending on what you install. Make sure you have the proper drivers installed with the corresponding WDM drivers. It sounds to me like you have mis matched drivers.

You never mentioned the driver version and OS you are using. What does it say for driver version in device manager for your display adaptor?

Right now, In device manager, do you have the 6 "ATI WDM *" entries under sound, video and game controllers? If you do, the version should be 6.14.1.6184. Maybe you want to read the readme and try Driver Cleaner, maybe some leftover registry items are causing you grief.

I had ghosted XP right after I did a clean install, and as much as I didnt want to go back to it, I was forced to. Everything works great now, but I am having to reinstall all of my old programs....

GRRR... although in the long run it will stop the headaches...
