ATI A-I-W 9700DV?

Anyone seen any info. on the next replacement video card from ATI to replace the 8500DV?

there is a r300 based aiw coming out, dunno when. it supposedly has built in hardware mpeg2 encoding... no other info is available...

I strongly doubt that the DV will have Hardware MPEG2. It's more like the AIW-9700 Pro will. As for when, my guestimate is that they'll be in stores by xmas.

I just hope that it is a 9700Pro A-I-W and not a 9000 or 9500. I have been drooling waiting for this thing to come out and replace my 7200 AIW. Hey, it's old but has been a fantastic card.

The price doesn't even matter (ok, if it's >$500 I will be disappointed!) as long as it is 9700Pro speed.

you got a point, because of cooling issues they may roll the clock back to 300 and use slower memory. But then again because of the external connector who knows right now.

I hope its all 3 actually. Since it'll likely be a daughter card arraingement like the 9000 VIVO cards or the FIRE GL X1, any of the 9xxx cards could be paired with the new Rage Theater/tuner addon card, giving a variety of performance/feature sets to choose from.

The 2 things I realy want to see:
*Dual Head support for the AIW. I don't want to sacrifice my Monitor to hook up to my new Widescreen DTV, and dual monitors for graphic design and video editing are such a huge benefit. They don't have to cram everything onto 1 PCB anymore, and I've got plenty of room since I don't use PCI #1 anyway, c'mon ATI.
*Hardware MPEG re-encoding. While real-time MPEG encoding is fine and dandy, the hardware encoder needs to be exposed so that it can be used to encode your captured/edited files.
