ATI 9800xt vs. Geforce 6800

Howdy folks,

Well I'm currently in the market to upgrade my current video card which is a really crappy Nvidia Geforce FX 5600 256mb Ultra. Right now I'm looking at either getting the 9800xt or the 6800. I'm also kind of in a budget so whichever one of these cards is better I'm going to get from ebay or somewhere I don't have to pay the full retail price. Anyways I was doing some research and stumbled upon this article here,
http://www.overclockercafe.com...GeForce-6800/index.htm which basically claims that the 6800 is not only better then the 9800xt but is also a whole lot cheaper.

I'm basically a gamer, and fps is a big thing for me, performance more then quality. So when I get games like farcry, doom3, or hl2 I hope to play them with ease instead of all the fps lag I get with my current card. Anyways which one do you guys recommend I get? Right now my only game I play is America's Army which is under the unreal engine, and I hear ATI cards are great for this game...

9800XT are etremely overpriced ATM considering their performance campaired to new cards. The 6800 >>> 9800XT

The 6800 series cards beat the 9800XT no question.
If the 6800 series is not in your budget check out the 6600GT. It is a very good performer for the price.

Well just my luck, after purchasing this I found out that I'm gonna get ripped off..

Take a look at this thread link to see what I mean:
http://forums.guru3d.com/showt...s=&threadid=115372

Points to consider:
1) The final price you paid is ~retail, so even if you do nothing, it's no big loss
2) The item description is wrong, but the item name is correct. People who know video cards may notice the discrepancy.
3) Who knows?! It's entirely possible that the item name was wrong and you just scored a 6800GT! 😀

Good luck resolving it. I'd contact the seller and ask for at least a partial refund.
