ATI 9800 PRO 128 $179 @ Frys in Bay Area

They've had this sale in the bay area about once a month this year. I've been holding off to see if would drop any more but doesn't seem the x800 is pushing the prices down anywhere. Can't find a better price on the web. Excellent price from a retail store.

Looks like you can. Checking the rebate, I noticed that it's an ATi one and not a Best Buy one. So it's good. If it was a Best Buy rebate, then they'd invalidate the rebate if there's a price match/price adjustment. But everything looks good to me.

Anybody know for sure if the 9800 Pro will/or wont be $179 at the Seattle/Renton Fry's?!?
Or does anybody have a link to the Seattle/Renton Fry's ad?

I haven't yet been to the Wilsonville Fry's -- was just quoting the price from their ad in the Oregonian.

Callaway -- The property taxes really aren't that bad. At least when compared to where I came from -- California!

Just got back from lunch and scored a 9800 Pro retail at Best Buy with a PM to Fry's for a walk out the door price of 179.99 (plus tax). The CSR (Houston Sharpstown BB) also gave me the $50 MIR forms, etc. Woot!

Sorry to have to say this but that rebate will be DENIED. You can't get the rebate on an item that has been PM'ed at BestBuy. Believe me, I used to work there. 😱

But the rebate doesn't mention anything about being invalid if there's a price adjustment like other Best Buy rebates have said before, so I think it's good. It doesn't look to be like a Best Buy rebate. It looks like it's an ATi rebate.


craneo, can you check your rebate to see if it mentions anything about being invalid if there is a price adjustment because the online one doesn't.

Read the thread knucklehead, it's a manufacturers rebate. There's no way for BB to invalidate it.

Does not say anything about invalid if price adjust. But the rebate reciept does say 179.99 and just below he description there is a line at says "Reg 249.99 with match competitor price".

FYI: Last year I scored a AIW 8500DV open box (at BB) for $125.99 with a $30 MIR that I later rcved. Rebate reciept says "Reg 139.99 with 10% off". A little bit of a different scenerio, but I have my hopes up that this will go through.

I bet I'll be seeing some frame rate/IQ diffs between the 8500DV and the 9800 Pro!

Should I replace my G4 Ti 4400 card with this one?

I play all the latest games, but I haven't witnessed my current card stall or do anything unusual. "Far Cry" lautomatically listed my card's performance settings as "medium".

..............when should I upgrade..........money isn't an issue to me, just sensibility 😉.........
