3dMark says - Texture Mapping not supported.
Quake says - couldnt load OpenGL system

Dont install

_________ EDIT __________

problem resolved

I did re-install,,, twice.

I did a system restore from ghost now ... im back on 6200c

I'll try it again. This time I wont 'uninstall' 6200c ... (as directions say)

Try copying the OpenGL32.dll from your Windows/System32 directory to your Quake directory, backup the OpenGL driver in Quake first though.

Guess I should have been more explainatory ...

None of my games recognized hardware OGL.
Either they failed to run or reverted to software rendering.

That includes 3dMark. Which never loaded at all. Said my card fails to meet minimum hardare requirements.
(2001 SE build 330 (patched))

Could Norton Aintivirus cause installation problems even though its disabled?
Thats the only 'new' program that I think could be a culprit.

Or ... could the driver no be recognizing my MB properly? - KX7-333

Well ... Ive re-downloaded the drivers and CP.
Restored the system a total of 4 times to get these drivers to install.

One thing I noticed is that the Control Panel said I wasnt using 4x ... matter of fact it said it was OFF
And .. fastwite was ON.

And when I attemptd to turn on 4x... and after reboot... it still said AGP was OFF.

I GIVE UP.

I have been having alot of problems with these drivers also. I have the same prblem with the 6200, I have to run the 6166. The SmarGart always has AGP "off" in any control panel that has it. The newer drivers even turn my desktop into a slide show. I have a retail 8500 (non O/C) on an Epox 8KHA+, part of my problem is Windows XP, it is about impossible to really uninstall old divers. I will just load them right back in on restart, before I can set it up as a standard vga controller.

yes ... fastwrite never worked for me either..

That never gave me any performance problems though.

Click start, settings, control panel, administrative tools, services. Make sure the ATi Smart service is enabled. I was having similar problems when I installed the latest drivers with that service set to manual/disable (Can't remember).

Noid, here's a shot at your problem...

From your System rig profile:

CPU: AMD XP1600+ - 9.5 x 189.9 1400MHz @ 1804MHz
Motherboard: Abit KX7-333

If you are running the fsb at 189.9, I'm guessing you have the AGP : PCI clock set at 5:2:1 which would equal an AGP running at 75.8MHz. You might try 9.5 x 186. That would set the AGP to 74.4MHz. My ATi Radeon 9700 Pro does not like anything over 74MHz AGP bus.

Thanks...

All games working

Now ... for those of you that wonder why I had ATIsmart disabled.
I'm a hardcore gamer... I disable all memory resident programs.

Also ... I'm running 9.5 x 166.9 right now.
and thanks for the heads up on your observations on the FSB
I thought my oc was gettn hosed by my Acoustic edge soundcard.

Sweet... Today my 9500 Pro arrives, I need to download the Catylist 2.5 drivers and also upgrade my 4-in-1's 😀

I did the same thing. I ran into the same problem you had with version 2.4. When I reverted back to my old drivers and starting experience the same problem, I knew it was related to some other part of my system. I rememberd that service and voila! Sometimes hardcore tweaking can get a man into trouble. =)

Well the speed of the 2.5s is about the same as the DirectX 9.0 beta drivers plus Descent III works in OpenGL mode again so I'm happy with that. However I still have issues in NOLF and CFS3 along with the issue with UT that was introduced with the 2.4s.

Other than that these drivers are working great and I get some nice speed increases in most cases, especially at 1792 x 1344 (up to 50% faster in some cases).

.. to reformat's post ...

The 2.5's recognized my fastwrite option after I re-installed the drivers, and THEN select the REPAIR option
during the CP setup process. (not MODIFY)

Also ... If your using a VIA chipset MB ... install the new VIA 4.45's first.

thought id give this a bump since Bonivucus thread seems more popular...

My fastwrites are fixed now ...
(be sure to Enable in BIOS first.)

... althought it's on ... I have no real gain though ... maybe others will thou
