hi all
i don't much about the graphic cards, but here is my question:

would i be happier with a ati 9700 pro versus TI4600 ?
knowing that i owned both ati product ( ati rage fury 32 MB) , and GF2 MX400 64MB.
it seemes that the ati performed amuch better, and still alive, and the GF2 did not perform as good as the ati, but died within 6 months, it could be that i got a bad card,

please any recommendation?

here is my system: P4 2.53Mhz
100Gig 8MB buffer
512 MB crucial pc2700
PNY ti4600 ( willing to change to ati radeon 9700 pro)

oh one important thing, i played the game mafia, and some times i notice lagging in the game, it seems that it freezes for a second, and go back to normal.

any help , anybody

thank you

The radeon 9700 pro easily will be better than the geforce. If you have the cash go grab one. If you need to see a review just check anands site and look for the 9700 pro review the numbers should prove how much better the radeon is than the geforce.

Oh yeah, be sure that if you got the money, which you do, to get the ATI Radeon 9700 Pro. That card is a ton better and outperforms even Nvidia's latest cards that are selling.

Remember to remove the Nvidia driver thoroughly before you install the ATI card.

Doesn't the 10% coupon work on radeon 9700 Pro for best buy? Just a thought 299 and 10% = around 270 bucks for a "RETAIL" radeon no shipping/handling and thats a SUPER STEAL. But it might be expired check the hot deal section for further information.

still trying to make a decision.
so far i do understand that ati 9700pro is better than ti4600, but some poeple told me that games work better with nvidia ships set that ati, and most companies build their games to work best on nvidia !!

is it true?

Those people are living in the past.
ATI drivers have improved remarkably over the last year or so, and in the hardware department, there is no Geforce 4 card that comes remotely close to the 9700pro in performance.

You will be cheating yourself if you want the best card you can buy and go with anything other than the 9700 pro

I have a Radeon 9700 Pro and love it.The new 3.3 catalyst drivers are suppose to give the card a good boost. If your happy with the Pony Ti4600 then by all means just keep it,its a good card.I do believe there are less issues with Nvidia cards, but so far I haven't had any problems with my Radeon as of yet.If I had to do it again I would still buy the Radeon 9700 Pro.Hands down its the best card out. With AA and AF enabled 1942 looks too sweet:).On the Nvidia it would take a huge hit on your frames per second.

they might not swap it. but try it because the 9700 crushes the 4600. there is no doubt.

if possible, get the Radeon 9800. it will retail for 299 and has begun shipping
it should beat the 9700Pro

If you want to make to exchange (and i would) make sure it was within the last 30 days, or they wont do it. That is, company policy says they wont do it. But, if you are lucky you will get an employee who doesnt care, or a manager who will listen to you.

Best of luck!

What was the biggest and baddest card 3 yrs ago, GF2pro I don't think the GF3's were out then. I know I can't keep a card that long.

yeah that's true that yo can't buy a card and keep it for ever, but also you wana buy a nice card that will saty longer and won't crap on you
that'a the way i look at it.
actully my first graphic card was the ati rage fury 32 MB still running, unlike my newer GF2 which died within 6 months
