ATI 9700 AIW question

When the dongle is connected to the card, the computer boots up black up to the login screen. Can't see POST messages or Windows booting up. Is it supposed to be have like this? My 8500DV didn't behave like this.
 
Do any of the other outputs show anything? It could be that the system recognizes other devices as the primary device and not your intended display. Admittedly, that *shouldn't* affect POST or any "pre-Windows" screens.

Other outputs, like the TV? Not on bootup. Only once I get into Windows. The 8500DV used to have the bootup screen on my TV as well. I emailed ATI about this, but haven't heard back from them yet.
