ATI 9600 Problem

Hi,
Please if somebody knows whats my problem is please let me know as soon as you can i would really appreciate that.
Ok my ATI 9600 is not playing games, but movies and other things are fine. When you run a game it will show you red lines all over the screen , and 3D Objects are having holes in it. I am thinking i burned my card but if i burned it then it should not even work at all.
I am using CAT 4.8 with ATI TOOL. There is a way i can flash the BIOS for this card, if there is please tell me where i can find the BIOS and how can i flash it.

There is no way i can fix it thats what you are saying, but Like i said it is working perfect in normal usage. but on some places it is showing red line behind icons. But did not do any thing it started when i try to install a fan on heatsink.

Try using ATITool and UNDERCLOCk the card. Maybe it'll help if temps are the issue. Overall though, try to RMA it. If you get those lines and stuff at stock speeds, then it's toast, or almost toast...

Not all video cards simply die immediately. Some have a slow agonizing death.... 😉

If you've overclocked it for a while and it's nigh unto death you probably won't notice any problems in 2D. 3D mode is where you'll see artifacting and corruption first.

All you can do really is underclock it to the point where its usable in 3D mode and hope it lasts long enough for you to decide what your next card is. If you don't use it for 3D at all, definately underclock it a lot and hopefully it will last a lot longer as an OK 2D card.

My Ti4200 started doing odd things in 3D mode and within a week or two wasn't really even usable as a 2D card. Good luck!

No, don't RMA it; you toasted it(425/500) and it's your loss; don't try to pass it on to the rest of us. :|

Come on it has been working fine at this speed. One day i tried to install a fan on the top of Heat sink, then there was some jumpers on the right hand side, with blue jumper covering two pins i thought that was a power supply if you have to install a fan, i put the power supply of the fan on the two pins, which were covered with that blue jumper cover. After that it happened before that i have been using it for almost 3 months but there was no problem. I don;t know what those three pins are and why that blue jumper is on 2 of them.
I hope that make sense to you guys.

Like I said, put everything back the way it was, and hope for the best; but it seems likely it's broken in a permanent way.
