ATI 9000 Pro Video Display Problems

I have a friend who bought a 9000 pro that does not display video, in that it does not display .avi, .mpeg files etc. I thought it was some sort of software problem until I found out his DVDs don't play either, and he just performed a fresh install. Does anyone know whether or not this is a software problem or a problem with the card? ATI is useless, they keep giving him the runaround.

Is your friend using the latest Catalyst 2.4 (6200) drivers?

thx for inquiry, but this post needs to be deleted...he already ditched the card for a GF4. hehe...problem "solved"
