I don't understand. Were the XFX cards being sold by Amazon or a third party? I also have a pre-order, so I want to know how they can get cards in stock and sell to new customers without honoring their pre-orders first. Their site says they will ship the cards "when they arrive" if you order pre-order.

I'm hoping the way the OP worded it that it was just Tigerdirect selling THROUGH Amazon and not Amazon sold/shipped 5850s. I too have a preorder nearly a month old with Amazon on the same card.

I just complained to Amazon about selling the card to new buyers before honoring existing pre-orders and they upgraded me to overnight shipping. Not that it will matter since I already had two day shipping and the card isn't in stock anyway, but I guess it's better than nothing.

I suggest everyone who pre-ordered complains.

funny you should mention that, as I received a $10 credit towards a future purchase when I complained.

Amazon is pulling the same slimy crap as everyone else. They are not shipping the pre-order cards so they can maximize the profit based on the current market pricing. I also have an XFX on pre-order from Amazon which they say will arrive AFTER December 25th.

Of course they do, it's " LEGAL" and you can do nothing about it.
In post communist countries all sales were trought BACK DOOR so we(at list HE) have still more to "STUDY" from them because it lasted just 20 years and then ...COLLAPSED.

"Legal" is not the same as ETHICAL! There are many things which are legal, but do not show good faith to the customers.

This is behavior I would expect from Tiger Direct, but not from Amazon.

Too bad. Amazon is now in the same league as Buy.com and Tiger.

There is something we (I) can do about it. We all have the option to spend our $ where ever we please (The USA is not YET a communist country). I will be spending less of my $ (if any at all) at Amazon in the future.

I can't believe just having stock of a 5850 qualifies as a hot deal.

nothing different from when the wii was never in stock for a year.

Some people dont have the time to check the entire internet for a card thats hard to find so threads like this are nice.
