Original MSRP was $259. Once ATI realized there was going to be a shortage they increased prices by something like $20. Then the e-tailers did the same so the going price for a 5850 is $300-$315. $309.99 is pretty much standard for a 5850 and likely will remain that way until after Xmas.

Ordered one of the Sapphires this morning from TD and looks like it just shipped. Definitely overpriced considering MSRP was supposed to be $260 but it doesn't seem like prices will be coming down until early next year so I'm happy :) Thanks again OP!

I am ticked that amazon chose to sell their new XFX stock instead of honoring their pre-orders first. There is absolutely no reason other than shady profiteering.

I'm waithing fot same card from TIGER since 10/14/09 and you know what? I guess Tiger is selling stuff on side market(at least employees) and they will do it until 5800 series will flod
the market, this will take another 4-6 months i guess, so only choice we got keep waithing or cancel the order and pay $320 for it.

I don't understand. Were the XFX cards being sold by Amazon or a third party? I also have a pre-order, so I want to know how they can get cards in stock and sell to new customers without honoring their pre-orders first. Their site says they will ship the cards "when they arrive" if you order pre-order.

Amazon is pulling the same slimy crap as everyone else. They are not shipping the pre-order cards so they can maximize the profit based on the current market pricing. I also have an XFX on pre-order from Amazon which they say will arrive AFTER December 25th.

just wait for tsmc to get the 40nm yield up then it's mad price drop... well not really maybe if nvidia get the g300s out.
