TigerDirect has an ATI 4890 for $169.99 shipped here: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...570&CatId=3669. Note that this card is new, unlike the refurb 4890 that was available a while ago for the same price.

You can get 12.3% cashback ($20.91) by going to www.bing.com, searching for motherboard, and clicking on the cashback logo for TigerDirect 12.3% cashback. If you don't see this, then you might have to turn off Adblock Plus. Make sure you see $20.91 Bing Cashback in your cart before checking out.

If you've never used ebillme as a payment method before, then you qualify for a $20 MIR here: http://www.ebillme.com/rebates/eBillme_rebate_Tiger_201002.pdf. I made a previous payment with ebillme on an order that was canceled. In a chat session with ebillme, they said that I would still qualify for this MIR even though it states "For first time use of eBillme as a payment method." To use ebillme, you either have to make a payment via online bill pay or go to one of their walk-in locations. Note that they charge $4.95 to use a walk-in location, which is why I said it would be about $134 after CB and MIR in the OP.

I worried about this being a bogus card, but TD's chat said:
Everything I am finding indicates this is an HD 4890. It may ship with a sticker over the main part of the red plastic that has a girls face on it. These are not only in another state, but they are also factory sealed. All we know is it is sent from ATITech as an ATI Radeon HD 4890.
I was also concerned about this card being an ATI, and I didn't think they made their own cards any more. However, in a recent SD thread on an ATI 5850, the following statement was made:

Just got it today.

http://www.amd.com/us/products/de...rview.aspx

this exact same one. No box for it, just came wrapped in coocoons of wrapping paper, with sli bridge and 2 dvi to vga adapters. About to plug it in and fire it up after i get some windows stuff settled.

but this did not come with any cd's or anything, truly OEM.

Damn VERY tempted.

Wonder why it says it has Dual DVI ports under the dual monitor description but in the production description says DVI/HDMI/VGA?

1 year warranty

How long will it take for them to change it to a 90 day warranty?

edplayer is referring to them changing the 1-year warranty on the ATI 5850 at CompUSA to 90 days. However, they changed it back to 1 year. The warranty comes from ATI, so I don't think it matters what TigerDirect puts on their website; it will be a 1-year warranty.

I'd be wary. its a non reference design with caps similar to the dreaded XFX non reference cards.

EDITED-

take a look at this, its a similar design, but not the same design (PCB color aside)

I'd be really wary of these. the ZDFC 4890s had 5 caps in the back and a long row under the cooler, these have 6 caps in the rear and what looks like a long line under the cooler. the reference design only has 3 caps. The cooler is a reference design just with out the manufacturer sticker, the fan, however is not the same as the reference models.

This is an ATI manufactured card with an ATI warranty... It's not going to change.

very odd where they come up with these things... are they cancelled orders from oem builders to ati? built by ati with no picture label?

i'm gonna grab one since it'll be worth it to double up with an existing 4890 a little ways down the road... my amex giving me an extra year of warranty makes it less risky...

that is what it said with the 5850 deal (who was through CompUSA, but both are Systemax companies). Ended up that warranty support is through a company called Fusion.

Maybe this is different but if you read the SD thread or the one over at Hardforum you will see what happened

searched "motherboard" @ bing.com and didn't see any 12.3%, help a bing CB noob..

Most likely you need to turn off Adblock Plus, or you could just try it in IE. The first or second result should look like this:

  • Motherboard for Less

    cbcoin.gif
Bing cashbackSave on all Motherboards. Fast Shipping, Buy Now! 12.3% Cashback
Click on Bing cashback and then you should see $20.91 Bing cashback listed in your shopping cart after adding the card there.

hmmm... this thing is probably a bit hot and noisy for that task, but hope it works out for you...

Yeah, unless you're going to be doing some serious gaming on the HTPC, you're better off with this 5770. The rebate expires today. If you won't be doing any gaming, then the 5670 will provide (according to AT's review) "full video acceleration capabilities under any circumstance." That means that there's absolutely no reason (other than gaming) to get a more-expensive card than the 5670. The 5450 and 5570 are great HTPC cards as well, they just don't offer the same acceleration that the 5670 does.

I personally use a 4550 in my HTPC that I picked up for $17 AR a few months ago.

If this is all true, I would stay away. No one seems to care for some reason

Interesting.
Never knew ATI still manufactures video cards...
Why would ATI of all people build a non-reference design? Doesn't make any sense.

Or is it that someone makes it for them and they simply just slap the ATI sticker on it?

This. Crippled 4890 that performs like OC'd 4830 FTL.

I think the thing is that we don't know if it's crippled or not. Yes, it's a risk, but it's not like people are buying this knowing that it's going to perform like a 4850.

FWIW I passed on this deal. I'd like to switch from my 2900Pro to something that runs cooler and consumes less power, rather than more. I guess I'll wait for the 5770 or 5850 to drop in price, depending on how much I want to spend.

The main reason, however, that I'm not getting this is that it was going to be for my birthday, and I've decided to get a new HT receiver instead.

I'll post up if it sucks or not when I get it. Ebillme just received my payment and TigerDirect is processing my payment. It should ship today. ETA 4-6 Business days.

i just wonder if this is a respin like the $70 4850 i just got... it's a sapphire, and it has a vga; dvi; and display port (which no 4850 i've gotten before this has had...)...

the power section is on the other side of the chip, not by the power plug like it used to be... i wonder if they changed all the boards???

but the card is a 4850, the bits on the card are all correct... i can't see how this 4890 could not have the shaders, etc... that the 4890 spec sets out...

I paid with ebillme when I had to cancel the said crippeled 4890, got the refund in a mailed check. Took about two weeks since they received the card I think. Might be quicker if you paid with debit/credit card I suppose.
